Chapter 6 – The Punishment starts

Yuki’s POV

‘So I’m punished. This is great! Totally great.’ I thought.

Black Shadow,

Due to the incident that had happened, you are not allowed to go on the mission for a month as punishment. You took the assignment of the other assassins so better to stay and reflect on your doing.

Secret Academy

I read it on the letter that was inside my shoe locker. For others, they’re going to be a love letter or confession letter. But for me, it is a notice given to me secretly by Mr. Tsukimori. I can only read it because not only you need light to make the writings appear to the reader, but also codes that are only used by the headmaster or Mr. Tsukimori.

‘My emotions are unstable again.’ I thought. My hand was beginning to grasp the paper so tight that it I had it crumpled. I counted one to three on my head and my body was relaxed. I put the letter back to the envelope and hid it on my drawer. Its writings would not be seen anymore after I opened it.

5 minutes before the school bell rang, the guy on my right is still staring at me. ‘Ever since he came!’ I thought. It annoys me. But I just ignored him as if I didn’t see him just like the people gossiping about me.

“Hey, hey. The geek’s back. She was hospitalized, right?”

“That’s what they say. She’s still ugly no matter what happens.”

“With that braided hair and big glasses, she’s out of style.”

“What’s her name? I think even the teachers doesn’t even know her.” They were laughing. I don’t mind. This is what I imagined, a laughing stock. And for the teachers, well, they might have forgotten about me for not being present for weeks.

“Hey guys, don’t be like that. After I thought that I am going to class more often, this is what I’m going to see?” The person beside me said. The people who laughed at me a while ago were silenced. ‘No, no, no! It wasn’t supposed to be like this.’ I thought.

“So you’re the person who got hospitalized for a long time. My name is Kyouya Hibiki. Call me Hibiki. And yours?” He said.

“Ayazawa Yuki.” I said

“Nice to meet you, Yuki-chan.” He said with a huge grin.

I was startled as the school bell rang when the door opened and the teacher popped out.

“Class is starting. Go back to your seat. I’m taking the attendance.” The teacher called everyone except me, which is expected.

“Sir!” Hibiki raised his hand.

“You forgot to call Ayazawa Yuki.” He said pointing at me.

“Oh… I’m sorry. I thought you’re still…” The teacher said looking at me. “… in the hospital”. “Oh well, thank you for your concern Mr. Kyouya. We’ll now begin to our lesson.”

Hibiki gave me thumbs up sign.

I just sigh.

‘This is not good’. I thought without making any emotions on my face. Then the teacher started his lessons.

The school bell rang which tells us its lunch time. I went out of the class and walked towards my sleeping place when I suddenly stopped. Someone is already there, which is not a great thing for me. It was Hibiki, the last person that I wanted to see right now. I was going away when Hibiki called me.

“Yu…ki…chan!” He said running towards me. He was dragging me back from where he came from.

“You’re already here so why don’t we eat together?” he said cheerfully.

I just said nothing as we sat on the grassy land. He was eating his own lunch when I opened mine.

“You shouldn’t have done that. You don’t have to be involved with my own issues.” I was talking about what happened in the classroom earlier.

“You’re already a friend of mine so it’s okay.” He said while eating.

“When did that happen?”

He stopped eating and looked at me, “When I asked your name and you answered it.” He said and continues to eat.

My heart skipped. I don’t know why but I ignored it. I started to eat my lunch with him silently.

After eating, he stood up and stretched his arms upward.

“Yuki, P.E is the next subject after this right?” He asked me.

I just nodded as my response while closing my lunch box. I stood up and went back to the school building. I was already 4 meters away from him when he tried to catch up with me.

“Wait!” he said running after me. I ignore him and continued walking.

Hibiki’s POV

I was trying to catch up with her when group of girls clung to me.

“There you are Hibiki! We’ve been looking for you.”

“Yeah. And we also made lunch for you.”

“Let’s look for a place to stay and eat together!”

‘This is the problem.’ I thought not trying to sweat.

“Ah… Ahm… Sorry girls but I’m quite busy. Will you excuse me first?”

“But…” one of the girls said.

‘Not with the buts. I don’t want them to get disappointed.’

I cupped the girl’s chin up and her eyes met mine.

“Don’t worry. I’ll be yours after I’m free.”

I can’t imagine that I’ve said that. If this is the only way to catch up Yuki, I have to.

The girl blushed. That was my opportunity to escape. I released their arms gently and followed Yuki. A minute passed and I heard their scream, a scream of excitement. ‘Sorry girls.’ I just thought.

I was catching my breath but no sign of her - not in the shoe locker room or in our classroom. I just sigh with disappointment.

“I’ll see her in the gym though.” I said after the school bell rang.
