You stared at the card in your hands, reading it over again for five thousand, three hundred thirty-first time, not that you were counting.
You walked into your room, and screamed, then clutched at your heart. "What the hell are you doing here, Loki?"
Loki shifted uncomfortably before answering. "I came to," he paused as if finding the right words to say. "To give this to you. It's yours for a day right?" He said, avoiding eye contact; his hand covering his face. He place his helm on your nightstand and stood awkwardly.
Your eyes filled with excitement and you rushed over and put it on your head. It fell over your eyes and you couldn't see anything. "It looks good doesn't it?" You remarked, voice reverberating in the helmet. You heard a soft chuckle from where you thought Loki was standing. You turned to that place and said, "Don't mock me!"
"I'm over here, darling," Loki said, firm hands spinning you from behind. He lifted the edge of the helm up, smirking. You were so close; you could smell the evergreen and mint on him. You snapped back into reality, and pushed him away, helmet falling over your eyes. You heard a sigh and the helmet was lifted off your head and into Loki's arms.
"Hey, that's mine!"
"I think it better suits me, don't you think?" He questioned, smirking.
You snatched it back from his hands and sat down on your bed. Loki tried to follow suit, but you said, "No, you sit on the floor. I like being taller than you." He quickly obeyed, and you reached into the drawer where you kept your helm. It was the one you collected in an earlier life, with some adjustments to fit your head. You studied the similarities before putting yours on your head and handing Loki back his. "I think this better suits me, don't you think?" You said with your own smirk.
He looked shocked but then quickly hid it. "It looks good on you darling."
"Thank you." You two fell into awkward silence.
"So, about the other day, do you still have my clothes?" Loki asked, looking away from you.
"Yes," you said, walking over to your dresser, and pulling them out. He reached for them, but you slapped his hand away. "But they're mine now." Loki looked surprised. "What? I like the hoodie and sweatpants." You said. He hid his face behind his hands and turned away from you.
You conjured a deck of cards and spent the rest of the day teaching him about mortal games.

A few days later, you knocked on Loki's door, package in hand. You had been avoiding him again, but needed to give him something . After waiting a few minutes, there was no reply, so you figured he was out. You let yourself in and looked around.
Loki's room was mesmerizing. It was open-spaced and elegant. Bookshelves lined one side of the room, and the bed was a canopy bed with silk drapes. You were studying the books on the bookshelves when you heard a voice.
"How did you get in here?" Loki asked, surprised.
"Through the door?"
"What are you doing here?"
You spun around to face Loki, who appeared to have just come out of the shower. He was shirtless and his hair was still wet. "I came to give you this." You said, looking away and shoving the package into Loki's arms. He took it and sat down on his bed, untying the small bow and opening the package.
Inside the package was a green hoodie. One of the sleeves had 'God of Mischief' written on it in gold text. "Why did you give me a gift?" Loki asked surprised.
"It's to replace the one that I took."
"So you got me another one, just so you could steal this one too?"
You winked, "Maybe, maybe not."
"You're such a thief."
"I'm not! I'm just good at acquiring things that aren't mine."
He smiled. "Can you help me dry my hair?"
"Can't you use a spell?" You asked hesitantly.
He held up his wrist with the cuff. "The most I can do is teleport and make illusions."
You sighed and clambered onto his bed behind him. "Don't get mad if I burn all your hair off." He sat on the edge as you used magic to dry his dripping wet hair. "Done." You said, getting up to leave.
Loki quickly pinned you to the bed. "You're not leaving without telling me why you're avoiding me."
"Let go of me! I need to tend to the garden!"
"You can't fool me. That garden can sustain itself without care for at least a year."
You looked into his eyes and instantly regretted it. They were full of questions and pain.
"Y/n, look me in the eyes and tell me."
You teleported out of his grip and reappeared sitting down on the bed beside Loki.
"I can't wake up and find that you're gone. Or wake up and find out I've missed three-thousand years of your life. I don't want to be that girl, falling hard and getting hurt. It's happened once too many times." You tear up as you remember your past loves, friends, and family. "I've stopped trying to find old friends and families. I'm scared."
"You realize that you are incredibly selfish. I've been hurt too, have you considered that?"
You remained silent, the facade slowly breaking. The broken child inside of you was starting to show. You start (stress habit).
"Stop that. Y/n, you are one of the only people I can rely on. Please don't let past regrets and pains change that." He said pulling you close.
"I just want to end it. End the cycle. End my pain."
"I'll help you then every step of the way, as long as you promise to stay by my side."
"Will you stay by mine?" You ask. "Then I promise." You say, raising your pinky as Loki grasps it with his own. "You know you can rely on other people, like Thor."
Loki scoffs. "If I trusted Thor with my life I'd probably be in Helheim by now."
The door bursts open. "Hey! I can be trusted!" Thor says.
"You idiot!" Wanda says, smacking Thor with a red ball of magic. "Hi, Y/n." Wanda nervously says as a reply to your suspicious glare. You and Loki look at each other at the same time and lunge towards Wanda and Thor respectively, dagger in hand.
