After spending hours in the marketplace, Loki finally pulled you away from an adorable flower shop where you were examing the rare flowers that were native to Asgard.
"Hey! What are doing?!?" You asked in surprise.
"I presume we have wasted enough time to miss dinner and your meeting with the court and Odin," Loki replied with a grin.
You hit him with the nearest object, which happened to be a book on Asgardian magic. "You snake! You let me dwindle here for hours on PURPOSE?"
Loki grinned as he led you back to his horse. You jumped on with ease and huffed. Loki just laughed as you set off for the palace.

Upon your arrival, Loki assigned a servant to guide you to your room. The walk was silent, but it was hard to miss the girl's stares as she brought you to your room. You felt quite unnerved.
"Excuse me, is there something on my face?" You asked worriedly, and also to break the tension.
The poor girl jumped in surprise. "N-no miss." You raised your eyebrows just in the slightest, and the girl immediately started gushing, like a bottle that had been uncorked.
"It's just that you're the first visitor the prince has brought in ever! It's so surprising! And it's not that you are just a mortal, but the rumor here is that you have the power of a goddess! Not to mention the Prince's appointment to the council. Odin usually thinks very lowly of his highness, but since he's returned, he's been given a role, betrothed, and acknowledged. It's quite a change you know."
You giggle at the girl's fast-spoken speech, but then stopped as a head-splitting ache formed in your brain. You stopped walking, it felt like you were trying to reach, trying to remember something you couldn't quite grasp. You were almost there, you could feel it, and the ache was hurting more, but just one more step and it'll be over-
"Miss?" The girl squeaked, full of concern. "Are you alright? We're almost to your room. Once there I can send others with healing tea."
"I'm fine," You said tiredly. "Just a bit woozy from the journey by Bifrost, I think."
She studied you, then briskly walked you to your room. "My name is Laelynn, I am to be your handmaiden here is Asguard. Call me if you need anything! I'll send up the tea shortly."
You practically collapse onto the bed. It was one of the softest things you've ever felt. You snapped and your night clothes from your bags, which were placed in the corner of your room, transported themselves onto your body. You fell asleep as soon as they were on.
~*Trigger Warning: Implication of Self Harm*~
Your boyfriend had been drafted. It had been one of the worst days of your life. Now he was fighting somewhere, across the world from you. You both had thought that the country's debt and disturbance were, by far, the worse things to happen during your lifetime, but this was worse. The decision to join the Second World War was greeted heartily by the whole country. But you never wanted this.
You decided to make the best of the situation. You saved every letter he wrote you. You were stunned when he had written that he was trained to be a Pilot, and even more when he had written of his experiences.
You, of course, had written back, filling the page with everything you could think of.
It was a sunny day, happy and joyous, if not for the underlying atmosphere of the war. You had been watering your roses out front when your mail arrived. Two letters. One with your boyfriend's curling script, and another stamped with an official-looking seal.
You opened the first, hands shaking.
My rose,
Tomorrow we are being sent on a dangerous operation, or so they say. Of course, I'll be fine, as always, so don't worry your pretty little mind out. They advised us to send letters to our loved ones, but by the time this has reached you, we should already be back safe and sound. The guys and I will be fine, but the main point of this letter has yet to be said.
I love you Y/n. From the moment I saw you on the first day of grade school. It didn't matter that you were an orphan, and it was miraculous enough that you ended up there and were allowed to say, I would say it to be fate.
The more I knew about you, the more I fell. Your familiar smile, your fear of fireworks and loud noises, and your tendency to love roses.
You were an angel sent down to me.
When I get back, we're going to get hitched. Now, I planned to get down on one knee for this, but due to the current situation, I can't. I just want you to know, I love you forever and ever.Your Pilot
(I'm sorry I couldn't get a real ring, that'll have to do for now.)
You fished out of the envelope a braided twin circle and slid it onto your finger, tears in your eyes as you opened the second letter.
Dear Ms. Y/n,
We regret to inform you of the death of Lt.-
You didn't dare read further. You collapsed, all previous joy gone.
You entered the house still clutching both letters. Then you took your sharped kitchen knife, and...

You woke up in a cold sweat, looking around at your room. Your clothes from the day before were neatly stacked on a nearby table.
Standing up, you shakily examined your wrists before grabbing the folded clothes and dressing. It was too early in the morning for magic, you decided. You crossed the room to the balcony for fresh air.
Opening the doors, you were greeted by a beautiful garden, which spanned the grounds below you. After quickly looking around to make sure the grounds were clear of people, you created a portal with your sling ring as you stood on the railing. Then you fell back into it. Someone screamed. So long for making sure no one was shocked by your method of transportation.
You landed in a field of peonies, laughing. You stood, admiring the garden.
A Lady ran up to you, probably the one who screamed. "Excuse me, are you Lady Y/n?"
"Yes, why?"
"Prince Loki has requested you to join him-"
You shouted a quick "Thank you!" before teleporting to Loki's side.
Which was a big mistake.
He was kneeling in the throne room. It was large, open, and unnervingly golden. As you studied the room, your headache grew. Everything felt familiar. The staring people, the openness of the room, the mural above, at least it felt familiar. Something was off about that mural. Then your eyes landed on the king and queen. Odin and Frigga.
Frigga was beautiful, and you could feel her gentleness radiate off her in waves. Odin's hostility was palpable.
As you studied him harder, your headache got worse. Loki stood when he saw you start to wobble out of the pain that split your skull. Then it stopped. Memories came rushing back, like water released from the floodgates.
"You!" You seethed, glaring at Odin.
He stared back with distaste. "Welcome back Lady Y/n, mortal reincarnation of the banished goddess of life and memories."

A/N: Sorry for taking an unannounced one-month hiatus. I was really stressed with school and my mental health was declining. But I'm glad to say I'm back to writing!
