Chapter Twenty-two

Before!

Y/n's Pov:

I woke up when Shota got out of bed.

"We have to get to the exam place early." I groaned. "I want to sleep." He laughed a bit.

He kissed my head. "So do I but we have to go." I sighed. I opened my eyes and looked at him.

"Why did I agree to go?" I asked in a groggy voice. "Because you really wanted to get up early for it."

I glared at him. He smiled a bit and walked to get dressed. I got up and went to the bathroom to shower and change.

When I got out Shota was sitting on the bed on his phone. I went to grab my water bottle and filled it.

I took some petals from the pink roses and put them in my water bottle as well.

"What are you doing?" He came up and hugged me from behind. He looked over my shoulder to see what I was doing.

"I always pack this just in case my emotions go out of control. It happens randomly sometimes so."

I finished and turned around. Shota kissed me and I kissed back. "Ready?"

He asked and I nodded.

When we entered the bus the students looked at us.

"Ms. L/n I didn't know you were coming!" I smiled at everyone. "Well, I wanted to see your progress! I'm excited."

I sat down and Shota sat next to me. The ride there was loud because the students were yelling and shouting.

Shota got up and threatened them with his quirk and they went quiet. I laughed a bit.

When we got there everyone got out of the bus and Shota started talking about them hatching into chicks.

It was all good until someone shouted at Shota.

"Eraser! I know that scowl anywhere!" We turned and saw a green haired woman walking towards us.

"I saw you on tv at the sports festival but it's been a while since we've been this close in person." She stopped right in front of Shota.

"Let's get married." What?! "No." She bursted out laughing. "You're a real laugh riot!"

She sure is loud. "As usual, you're impossible, Joke." He sighed. So that's her hero name.

I think I've heard about her but I've never really seen her on tv or anything.

"Come on, imagine it! If I was your wife you'd have a future full of constant laughter!"

She really likes making jokes. Unless they aren't jokes then she has a very bold personality.

"That sounds like an actual nightmare." She moved her eyes towards me. "And who is this?" She asked.

I held out my hand for her. "Y/n L/n. And you?" She squinted her eyes at me and laughed.

"No need to be so formal!" I laughed awkwardly and pulled back my hand. "Uh so how do you know Shota?" She noticed I called him by his given name.

"Our agencies were near each other. As young heroes striving to make a difference in the world and mutual love bloomed." She swooned.

"No, it didn't," Shota said. I could see he was looking at me from the corner of my eye.

Don't worry, I'm alright.

I don't think she's doing this on purpose. Her quirk is making people laugh so maybe it's a side effect.

"You're my favorite person to tease future husband!" She yelled. He sighed. "So Joke if you're here then that must mean-" She cut him off.

"That's right!" She pointed out her class and they came and introduced themselves.

But one of them had this look in his eyes. I don't know. Something about that boy seemed fake.

I think Bakugo noticed it too since he slapped his hand away.

Shota spoke. "Get your costumes and go inside. There's no time to waste." Shota and I headed inside.

But I could hear Joke ask him something but he ignored her.

What's going on? Shota spoke. "I'm sorry about her. She's-" I cut him off. "Crazy?"

He nodded. "Basically." I laughed a bit. "I'm fine." I paused and pulled him closer.

"Besides, I know your eyes are only on me," I smirked. I quickly kissed him. "Come on, let's go get good seats."

He just nodded. I think he was frozen from shock.

"Eraser your fly is down."

He tried to seat us somewhere away from her but she followed us and he doesn't look very happy.

So much for getting good seats.

"I can't believe you still have twenty students." I looked over at her. "Why is that?" She gave me this weird grin.

"Because everyone knows Eraser can't help but expel his students." I didn't know that.

I could tell he was trying to avoid looking at me. "I think he actually likes his class this time!"

"Not really." He said. Joke started laughing. "Don't be embarrassed! Please date me." He groaned.

"Shut up." She laughed again. "But really you know what's about to happen down there. And yet you didn't mention a thing to your class."

I'm confused. I looked at Shota but he didn't say anything. And Joke was just weirdly smiling.

"Every year the test is different. But one thing is always the same it's kinda like a tradition during the licensing exam." She paused.

"Most of the students who compete have equal footing. Except for UA, because of the sports festival. Showing off strengths, weaknesses, and fighting styles."

She turned to us. "Kinda funny, isn't it." I get it now.

"So you think well be taken out?" He started. "I don't really see a reason why I should have warned them. I doubt it would have changed either way."

The students were fighting back really well. "Some traditions are meant to be broken. But the thing about it is that traditions can change over time." I paused.

"And it looks like it's Class 1-A's time." I looked at her. "Kinda funny isn't it?"

I could tell she was getting a little upset.

Shota smiled a bit at me and I tried to keep in my laugh. We continued to watch the exam.

But it was only a matter of time before-
