Gone.

-Naruto POV-

Itachi wasn't dead.

That wasn't Itachi.

He isn't that weak.

He isn't dead.

Deidara 's hand flew over his mouth as he gasped at the sight.

Itachi was dead.

I would never see him again.

I gazed at him seemingly endlessly. Deidara tried to check his pulse but on the inside he knew how hopeless it was. As soon as he felt nothing, he came up to me.

"Naruto..." he whispered sadly to me as he gave me a hug.

I didn't move. I stayed in the same posititon as before. Then I cried into his shoulder. The both of us sank to the ground. My brain felt like a mess and the words Deidara had said to me blurred. There were only 2 things in the world I wanted. I wanted Itachi back.

And Sasuke dead.

It only felt like a moment before I laid down on my bed, staring at the ceiling. There was nothing I could do was there. I couldn't revive Itachi.

I couldn't revive Itachi.

Was I sure?

-Sasuke POV-

I sat outside the borders of Konoha in the ivy green trees. I scoffed to myself as I stayed there. I was an idiot. My brother was probably one of the only people in the world who still cared about me. What did he mean by "be a good friend"? It was a somewhat vague message. To everyone or to a certain person? Did I know them or not?

I didn't want to return to the village. They learned how I had killed Itachi somehow, so they would all revere me as a hero. There was nothing I did to deserve it, but they had no idea. I had been postponing my arrival within the village for 3 days so far. I knew that Team 7 may have been worrying about me at that moment but I just wouldn't be able to accept all the praise from the other villagers.

The orange masked man told that he was Madara which was absolutely terrifying but it helped me listen to his words. According to him, Itachi was told to kill my clan if he wanted me to live. The person responsible was told to me. I had no way to know whether it was true or not, but it seemed accurate.

Eventually, I figured it would be best to return anyway. I'd try to get to Tsunade's Office as soon as possible to see if Team 7 had returned from their mission even though I knew she would reprimand me for leaving. I went to the official gate to enter the village.

"Oh, Sasuke you're back! Everyone has so many thanks to give to you so I guess I'll start." the guard said. I barely listened to a word before going into the village. I gave half-hearted "thank yous" and "it was nothings" whenever I was forced into contact with someone else.

It felt like an eternity before I was able to enter the Hokage building. After walking up the stairs, I knocked on the door of Tsunade's office.

"Come in." she offered.

I opened the door to her room to see her sitting at her desk with someone else next to her. Danzo.
