For years, Naruto had nothing. No love, no family, no strength, and no happiness. Only when he leaves Konoha does he get everything he's wanted. And it only takes moments for that same village to take it away again.
☆Hello, I'm Midane. This is my fi...
I felt like I had walked endlessly. The foot of snow on the ground made it worse, it was worth it though. My responsibility was to guide Danzo as his bodyguard to the Hokage Meeting safely, and I was currently treading to the Hokage meeting itself.
I had received training in ROOT before hand. The headquarters was underground and I was forced into a room with one other trained member. The task was simple.
Kill them or die.
I was shaken from the sudden escalation, but it wasn't long before constant attacks took place. Neither of us could sleep for more than a few minutes knowing how easily that weakness could be exploited.
So I killed them within 6 days. It made me realize what this secret association represented. Ruthlessness. And I hated it. I didn't have a choice though, I had signed a contract that made me stay. I was stuck, stuck doing an "honorable" task. The large building began to blend into the distance until we were right in front of the gate.
My face was covered with an ANBU mask as I was guided into the cylindrical building for the meeting. We had arrived 3rd out of all of the villages. In one of the Kage's seats, I saw Gaara.
Gaara who rose from jinchuriki to Kage; just like in Naruto's lost dream. As a bodyguard, I had to stand extremely straight with not a single hunch.
"Hello, Danzo. Are you the Hokage..?" Gaara asked uncertainty.
Danzo replied "Yes" instantly like a snake. I wished I could signal to Gaara it wasn't the truth, but the other bodyguard would definitely snitch. It was around 15 minutes before the other two Kage arrived.
It wasn't long before the discussion began. They talked respectfully before the Tsuchikage insisted in getting the real matter at hand.
Madara Uchiha.
His name made me freeze. The fact that I had talked to the Madara Uchiha hit me. He had a sharingan so it had to be him.
"Yes..there are rumors that Madara Uchiha has returned." The Mizukage sighed grimly.
"I understand the concern, but we can only act so much if the basis for it is a rumor." Gaara replied.
I was the only one here who knew that it wasn't just a rumor. But I was not allowed to speak. The way that they debated over what to do when I knew that Madara was alive made me uncomfortable.
If I spoke without decent proof of what I was saying, I would probably lose my position; no, I would lose it either way.
Who was I kidding, I was basically asking me or the world, when I thought of it like that I knew what to do.
"Excuse me!" I shouted, wincing at my own voice. Danzo promptly gave me a death glare. It was like him saying shut up.
Luckily, the Mizukage asked for me to speak.
I took a deep breath. "Madara Uchiha is-
"Alive."
I was cut off by someone's whimsical voice coming from near the ceiling. They resembled the shape of a plant.
"Yes, Madara truly is alive," A massive explosion was heard from the other side of the wall. "And you have a visitor."
What was that thing, and why was that explosion happening. I wanted to find out, but Danzo urgently signaled for us to leave. I felt cowardly as I followed behind him and the other guard. Danzo's face was contorted in anger.
We quickly left the building and I watched the area of the explosion send smoke into the air. The distance between the building and us increased until it was nearly out of sight.
Then I sensed something in the trees. I looked up quickly to see a figure sitting on a sturdy branch. My sensory skills were unusually slow. Danzo ordered us to attack the figure.
My partner would get the first hit on them, and I would later be the one to finish them off. That's what I though would happen at least. But rather than seeing the figure be impaled with a kunai, they held my teammate's neck with their fist, dangling him over the edge of the trees before dropping him onto the ground below.
I backed away to a different tree, trying my best to get a look at them.
"Who are you?" I demanded.
"Hmph, I thought you of all people would know; consider me offended."
I knew that voice. Naruto. I had slipped up too many times just at the sight of him, but that was over. I sped over to where Naruto was before unsheathing my sword, releasing a waves of black and red energy.
"You need to stop this Naruto. You're involving other villages for no reason." I demanded.
"Well, you see, I'm not really here for you. At least not yet. Naruto flung a single kunai in Danzo's direction that I was forced to deflect. "I'm here for him, but if you're so eager to die, keep protecting him.
I'll kill you too."
