Chapter Thirty Eight

I layed on my bed Adele had decided to spend some time with her father and I was able to persuade her that she should spend some time with him without me she agreed and they left. I was in nothing but my underwear and a white T-shirt I was laying on my bed and had my earplugs in and listening to a few songs that Adele had specifically downloaded for me to listen to. I closed my eyes to fully take in the songs which if I'm being honest weren't too bad and I found myself enjoying her taste in music I enjoyed a lot of things about her.

BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ

I grabbed my phone and used the built-in mic on the earplugs to talk to Helen who happened to be calling me.

"Yo Helen what's up," I said.

"Hey I was trying to get someone to hang with today since my girlfriend is too busy but refuses to tell me why so I thought hanging with Adele would be a good idea but she won't answer her phone and Sophia is I think finally having sex with Justin so the only one left is you so wanna hang for a bit," Helen said.

"So I am your last choice for a hang with friends," I said to toy with her.

"No, you just happen to be at the bottom of my list of contacts," Helen said.

"But my name starts with an A should it not be close or directly next to Adele at the top," I said.

"Yes I know starts with an A but not in my contact list and neither does Adele's," Helen said.

"Whatever any idea where you wanna hang out," I said as I sat up.

"Well, I have been thinking about going to see that new zombie movie in theatres wanna go with me," Helen said.

"Sure when does it start," I said.

"Well it depends on which one you want to go to the 2D one is in two hours and the 3D one is at 7:30," Helen said.

"I think you can only get the full effect of a first time zombie film when seeing it in 3D so we can go for that one if you wanna hang at mine until it's time your free to do so," I said.

"Cool I'll head over," Helen said before hanging up.

I got up off my bed as I now had to get changed for Helen's arrival I pulled my T-shirt off and opened my closet I pulled out a pair of black skinny jeans and a pink top with a blue denim jacket.

"Hey Alyssa honey I'm going out do we need anything or is there anything you want," My mother said from downstairs.

"Yeah I have a friend coming over could you grab us some snacks," I said after thinking for a few moments.

"Of course, I'll be back soon," My mum said and I hear the door open and close.

I sat on my bed and when my mum got back she had a box of doughnuts and some crisps for us as I took out the bag there was a knock on the door I opened it and saw Helen standing there looking like a model from Hollywood.

"Yo," Helen said.

"Sorry but I'm expecting a friend not a shallow girl from the magazines," I said teasing her.

"Oh haha very funny," She said with a smile.

"Come on in," I said stepping to the side.

"Nice house you have here," she said looking around as she stepped in.

"Hey mum this is Helen," I said as I led her to the kitchen.

"Hi," She said and my mum smiled.

"Nice to meet you, Helen," My mother said.

"Same here you guys are clearly rolling in money this house is beautiful," Helen said.

"Thank you but your brother has far more if he can afford one of the hill houses," My mother said.

"He keeps himself well provided for yes but I fear that this will be his last open house event," Helen said.

"Why is that," I said.

"Well he was telling me that if this open house goes well it will be a nice send-off or ending to this chapter of his life," Helen said and it was then that I began wondering just how different the Helen that I knew before she was my friend and her brother were.

"Well then I wish him all the best," My mum said.

"Well shall we," I said turning to Helen and grabbing the snacks my mum got us.

"Yep," She said and we headed up to my room.

"You can sit where you like," I said opening the door and sitting the snacks down.

We sat on my bed and I had the snacks in a ring in the middle of us we talked and laughed about the things that we did with our girlfriends and how different they were to us and yet somehow we couldn't imagine being with anyone else.

"Hey, you know what I noticed," Helen said.

"Humm," I said with a mouth full of Donut.

"Me and Adele are not that different," Helen said.

"Yeah, I guess," I said.

"Do you think that if you had run into me instead that you might have gotten together with me instead?" She said.

"My and Adele getting together was a little more complicated than that," I said.

"Right," Helen said.

"I'm serious," I said giving her a light shove.

"So I have a serious request," Helen said.

"Okay," I said.

Helen moved closer to me so close that she was basically on top of me when she stopped our faces a centimetre or two apart.

"Kiss me," Helen said.

I didn't know what to do I didn't want to kiss her I mean I had a girlfriend but as I looked at her with her eyes being as close as they were I could see that she was going through something big. I took a quick look around my room and kissed her it was only a short one lasting a second or two I gave it some passion.

I then hers the front door open and I hear Adele's voice I pushed Helen off me and looked her dead in the eye.

"Don't you dear speak a word of this got that," I was more serious and angrier with her now than I had been with anyone.

All I got was a nod.

"Hey babe," Said Adele as she came in and kissed me I kissed her back and it felt right with her not like what just happened.

"How was the day with your dad," I said.

"It was alright I did have a relatively good time only made odd by the fact that it was with my dad," Adele said.

"I get that," I said.

"What's Helen doing here?" Adele asked.

"She had no one to hang out with today we were actually going to see a move later wanna come with," I said.

"Sure," Adele said.
