Always Protected

Draken woke up that morning like any other day and made his way towards the bathroom. After he finished he walked out and heard a noise from Rain's room. On instinct he spoke with a small wave of his hand, "Morning." Without hearing a reply he looked in to see if was just Chifuyu moving in his sleep.

The events of yesterday unfolding in his head and he remembered she wasn't there. He lowered his arms back to his side and clinches his hand into a fist. This was wrong to him. Every morning they usually was the first two to wake up and every morning they greeted eachother. Every morning without fail.

Clinching his teeth he walked into the room again and shut the door behind him. Sitting on the bed he held his head in his hand. "All so wrong." He whispered. Laying down he hoped to get some more sleep as he clearly remembered the sun coming up before he finally get some restless sleep.

Instead he ended up just laying there watching the alarm clock slowly change. The bright red numbers grew dim as the sun shown through the small window. Accepting he wouldn't get more sleep he stood up and exited the room again only this time he could hear others awake, Baji it sounded like.

Walking into the living room Mikey still slept on the couch while Baji had the TV on with the volume low. "We all are about to have to get up." Baji looked at Draken as he entered the room, "Rain will be waiting on us."

"Baji there is something you need to know," Draken sat on the floor with his back against the wall, "We won't be seeing Rain today."

"Why not?" Baji shot up from his laying position.

"We won't see her for a few days," Draken continued, "She was put in ICU last night."

"She was okay! She was just fine! They said they could save her!" Baji stood.

"They are trying the best they can." Mikey grumbled from the couch sitting up himself.

"No we have to go see her! If we don't she will think we left her!" Baji tried fighting back.

"They won't let anyone in with her." Draken said in response.

"When she went into cardiac arrest last night it did something to her and the doctors have to keep the room empty incase something happens again." Mikey looked at Baji. His face a mix of hurt, fear, and anger.

"No, no, no!" Baji tangled his fingers in his hair, "No she has to live!"

"She will," Chifuyu walks in, "She will come back to us. I know she will." Chifuyu tries to be a strong person in the situation but everyone knew he was hurting just the same. "Baji I do have a question though. Yesterday you said something about Rain having nightmares."

"There was many times she would wake up shaking," He started, "The first night was when she first slept in the bed with me after she did my stitches." He softly ran his fingers over the healed scare over his abdomen.

"Did she say what they were about?" Mikey asked.

"Her father," Baji answers, "At first I didn't know it was her father but after graduation night I was able to put the pieces together."

"What happened in them?" Draken asked the next one.

"He would beat her and her mother." Baji looks down at the floor. He felt his eyes start to water a little and didn't want anyone to see, "Why do you think she slept with me and Chifuyu? You idiots." He scoffed at them.

"How did I not know?" Chifuyu asked in disbelief.

"Your more of a heavy sleeper then I am." Baji pointed at him looking up.
