Always Protected

Chifuyu turned in his sleep as his hand search for one thing. After just feeling a empty bed her jumps up looking at the empty mattress. He had dreamed that Rain came home. He dreamed that none of this had happened making his hopes get excited.

Sighing heavy he laid back down and pulled her pillow to his chest. He needed something of hers to just hold to him and the best option he had was the bright white pillow with a pink chibi cat on it. It was a pillow her mother had bought her and she slept with it every night. It was something that was dear to her.

He hugged the pillow as close and as tight as his arms would allow him. Silent tears lined his eyes before they grew heavy and fell, seeping into the cotton. He wished so bad that she was laying in bed with him now playing with his hair like she always would do. He just needed her here and everything could go back to the way it was.

"Please come back." He whispered to the pillow.

He laid in bed a little longer as he heard the rain start to pour down. It was heavy against the roof. It was gonna be another gloomy day for them as they waited for the day to pass. They each wished the time would hurry. In the living room was Mikey and Draken on their phones as Baji hunted the fridge for something to please his appetite.

After finally getting out of bed Chifuyu walks into the bathroom and does his business before exiting. Walking into the living room he greeting the three. "Get any sleep?" Mikey asked as Chifuyu was the last one awake.

"Not really." Chifuyu answered getting him a glass of water.

"None of us did either." Draken replied setting down his phone.

"When did they say we could go there?" Baji asked leaning against the counter in the kitchen.

"The day after tomorrow." Chifuyu answers.

"Ugh why can't it be today?" Mikey tossed his head bsck on the back of the couch.

"Because she is still in ICU." Draken pointed out to him.

"That was rhetorical." Mikey glares at him.

"You asked." Draken smirked at him.

The rest of the day had surprisingly passed by quickly. They sat around watching TV and they did go out for a while to meet with everyone. And when it came time to lay down Baji was the last awake. He was laid out in the chair looking at his phone playing some stupid game to pass time.

Sighing he stood up with the urge to use the bathroom. Walking into the bathroom he shut the door and did his business that was needed. When he finished he stood at the sink drying the water from his hands after he washed them. He looked at himself in the mirror and saw how his eyes started to droop making it look like he had dark eyes from lack of sleep and stress.

Something shines in his eye and he slightly turns to the right to see a bright red hair tie with a strawberry charm on it. It's not the first he has see of this. Rain used it to tie his hair up before, the first time having been when she had stitched him up. At the memory he brushed his fingers over the healed scar the went along half his abdomen.

He reached up and pulled his hair lose from the hair tie that was in it and replaced it with the red one. Making sure the strawberry wasn't crooked or anything he looked at his reflection in the mirror. "One more day hopefully." He mumbles to himself before exiting the room and turning the light off behind him.

He walked into the kitchen and grabbed a water bottle and opened it. Leaning on the counter he scrolls through his phone again as he drinks on the water.

After he finished the water he tossed the bottle away and made his way back to the chair. Reclining it back again he eventually drifted off into a sleepless night.

The next day seemed to pass by quickly as they had just stayed hunkered down in the apartment. They all was listening to the sound of Chifuyu's phone ringing. He had called the hospital earlier that morning asking for an update and the nurse had said she would call back with any update.

They sat in the living room quite so they would be able to clearly hear the phone. And as if by miracle it rang. It was the number of the nurse. Chifuyu quickly answered it and put it on speaker.

"Hello?" He asked.

"Hey guys!" A horse voice blessed their ears. A voice they haven't heard in three days.

"Rain!" Baji screams practically jumping at the phone.

"I'm alive." A choaked giggle came through.

"Are you in a regular room yet?" Draken asked.

"Not yet I will be tomorrow though." She answered, "They need me to stay in ICU for another night to make sure I don't drop again."

"God you've already scared us enough." Mikey chimes into the conversation.

They could hear a laugh come from her end making them all relax some. "I didn't mean to if that helps."

"Make it where we can come see you and you'll be forgiven." Mikey

"Deal." They could all basically see the smile that came with her words.

After hearing a yawn Chifuyu spoke, "Get some sleep we'll be there tomorrow."

"Okay guys you sleep too." Rain's tired voice came through.

After finally saying their good byes and hanging up for the first night in three days they could all rest easy knowing that she was going to be okay.
