I was so lost for words as I walked back to the treehouse. The sun had risen more than I thought. I guess I was sitting there longer and when I started talking with the chief. I just lost track of time.
When I walked through the door Azaix stopped midway before flipping the couch over. ''Where have you been?'' He asked but there was a tone in his voice.
''I was at the lake.'' I watched as he put couch down and stalked his way over to me. I was still nervous but I was starting to get a handle on my emotions when it came to Azaix or now Anilith and everyone else in camp.
''What were you doing at the lake?''
''I was talking with the chief. Though I had originally gone to just enjoy the view.'' I was shocked when his hand landed on my stomach, but I allowed it. I could see the worry. But I could already see the extreme love he had for the baby growing inside me.
Taking a deep breath in, Anilith changed back to Azaix. ''Next time please wait for me to come back before going off somewhere by yourself.''
''Of course,'' I said quickly back. He wrapped his arms around me. ''I'm so sorry.''
Once we talked more and he calmed down, we took a drive to the outer rim of the camp. Azaix needed to fix the fence so he wanted me to come along. He told me that he wanted me to see the fields but I knew he didn't want me out of his sight. I just knew he was going to be over protective over me and baby.
''I'm not the only one that's protective over you,'' Azaix stated looking over at me. He had the barbed wire pulled tight against the wooden post. Using the metal staple gun to secure it, he let go of it.
''Really,'' I said sitting on my knees in the back of his truck. ''I never would've guess.'' He smirked.
''The others care just as much as I do,'' he said standing next to the side of the truck. I handed him his water. ''Solar I would say cares the most. He's been on edge since knowing you were pregnant.''
''Did Solar tell you that I was pregnant?'' I mean he said he wouldn't say anything until I told Azaix.
Azaix made eye contact me within seconds of asking my question. ''No Solar never told me you were pregnant until after you told me. He and I went over the fear you felt. He helped me to understand why you feared telling me. He also told me that yes he knew before you, but I agreed with his decision allowing you to tell me yourself.''
''I'm glad he did,'' I said dipping the wash cloth in the bucket of water to rub my neck with it. Sitting in the open sun was hot as hell. ''So why is Solar being more protective than you Azaix?''
''Solar is the alien part of me. The aliens or celestial beings have been known to be very protective of their mates and their children that are created through that bond. That's what Solar is feeling and why he's been talking to you a lot more than he's probably ever talked to anyone else besides me.'' There was more he wasn't tell me.
''What else is there you're not telling me about Azaix!''
Azaix leaned against the truck. His back was to me. ''He wants to talk to you,'' he said crossing his arms over his chest.
''Oh okay,'' I said back. I watched as they traded places with one another. Solar was hard to look at in the direct sunlight. I had to shield my eyes to keep myself from going blind. ''Solar?''
-You asked why I'm so protective over you?- It was strange to have him standing in front of me but his mouth wasn't moving. It reminded me of Yuma.
''Yes,'' I replied.
Solar turned to where I could only see his grey eye looking my way. His other eye was closed in such a way like it was sensitive to the light.
