Chapter 17
I didn't know what to say so Pierre continued.
“Brie what would happen if Dee hadn't up and left? What would have happened between us?”
“I don't know, I guess I didn't think about it.”
“Well maybe you should think about it. Because you know how I feel about you, but I can't do this living in two different places thing.”
“I'm not asking you to!” I defended myself.
“You are. But you know what let's forget about it. We've got the next couple of weeks to figure this out.” With that final statement he gave me a quick peck on the cheek, got off the bed then headed into the kitchen.
It took me a few minutes before I followed as I was trying to figure things out. I was happy Pierre and I were I guess together and we both knew how the other felt, but I knew that I couldn't move back to Quebec. I couldn't it held to many bad memories for me. I knew this was going to one of the hardest decisions of my life.
After dinner, which was a quiet affair I thanked the guys and went to get ready for the mall. I had a list of stuff I needed to buy for my other friends for Christmas but now I had to buy for my brother, the guys, and apparently my family.
The mall turned out to be quite an adventure as I tried to escape from the guys so I could buy their gifts. Finally the mall was closing and we were heading out to the parking lot. I carried many bags turning down the boys offer to carry them. Ya right like I would let them carry their own gifts. As it turned out shopping for them was easy. I had even managed to get a respectable gift for my parents, even though I had not wanted to. Also not having to buy for Dee-Ann had left me a small portion of cash as we would usually spend around $200 on each other every year.
We decided to take cabs back to the house, so I traveled with Pierre, and David.
I sat by the window thinking about ideas on how to lock myself away so I could wrap, when I felt a hand touch mine. I looked over and Pierre smiled at me. It was like our earlier conversation had not even happened, which I knew wasn't true as I could still see a hint of frustration in his eyes.
“So what did you get your mom?” I asked.
I knew Pierre and his parents were really close, so it had to have been really special. David was close to Pierre's parents as well, for when they were younger David's living arraignment hadn't been the best and Pierre's parents had offered him a place to stay. They were like family to him, as they were also to me. I loved his family, his mom and dad had always treated me like one of their own. They were just those kind of parents that loved all their kid's friends. I had felt so terrible leaving Quebec and not telling them as they had been some of the only people who had come to my graduation.
“I got her a tennis bracelet I know she's been looking at for months.”
“Aw. That's cute. She'll love it.”
“Ya I had it changed a bit though. I put mine and Jay's birthstones in it along with her and dad's.”
'“Awesome. How is Jay anyways? Still beating that cancer crap?”
“Hell yes. We're Bouvier's. We're strong. I knew my brother wouldn't let that shit tear him down.”
“Well that's good I'm glad he's doing better. When I read it in the paper I was going to call him but then...”
“Yeah I understand. Well you'll be able to see him when we get there.”
“Awesome. I'm kinda nervous though. I haven't seen them in years. I feel so bad.”
“No worries everything will be fine. We'll talk to them and they'll be fine. My parents and brother always loved you, you know that.”
“Ya I know.”
We drove the rest of the way in silence, holding hands watching the scenes outside the taxi fly by. When we got to the house I flew up the stairs with my purchases and ran for my room.
