Chapter Twenty Five

"This is why we went after her," Liam sighed.

"We didn't move fast enough," I murmured in shock.

We probably would have caught up with her had Liam been able to use his abilities to catch up with her and if Jay and Mattie hadn't stopped up to show us, Travis, in a suit and mask. Travis who thought my name was Beverly. How annoying was that? All those visits to the dorms and he claimed didn't know my name? I was polite and even Liam managed to be polite as we offered conversation. Unfortunately, we'd lost sight of Lily for a few minutes which brought us to now.

Our beautiful Lily was currently lip-locking with a random guy. Worse yet it just happened Zeke was watching and he looked ready to pummel this guy. No more than pummel he'd kill him. Lily said she was going to make him jealous and she ensured she'd done that. Unfortunately, she may have just assured this guy's death. Zeke was trembling as much as Liam and this wasn't good.

"Do something, "I said tugging on his arm.

"I'm going," Liam sighed as he walked over.

"Imagine my surprise with this vision," Louis commented quietly to me as he walked by heading toward Zeke as well.

They both stood in front of Liam and I could tell they talked for a few tense moments before the three of them disappeared through the crowd. I wasn't sure if this was a good thing or a bad thing but removing Zeke from the situation was probably a good idea. Lily for her part watched them leave but continued dancing with this guy. She was clearly a woman scorned and this was new.

I walked back to our table to everyone else but Niles and I wondered if he'd gone with them to calm Zeke. Travis was also here for some reason and he nodded when I approached.

"What's up, Bailey?"

"It's Britt," I spoke dryly.

"Britt right. Anyway, this wine is excellent. What do you say, Jay?" He gestured to a full glass on the table and he reached for it when Mattie put her hand over his.

"Jay doesn't drink," she insisted.

"No, I don't," He smiled.

I mentally sighed in relief. Jayden had managed to refrain from drinking for months and I was happy about that. He was always mature when it really counted and he'd gone through as much as any of us lately. I was proud of him. I'd feared this trauma might drive him back into alcohol's clutches. For now, that was one thing I didn't have to worry about and I hoped I didn't again.

"Wow really? I guess everyone has their reasons," Travis shrugged downing another glass.

"Maybe you should think about it," Jay offered putting his arm around Mattie.

"No thanks, I'm good."

Let's hope he could handle his alcohol. I supposed wine was a lot better than something he could be drinking. A stronger drink would have been even worse for Jay and maybe Travis too. I grimaced at him one last time. Whether that would affect Travis remained to be seen.

"Anyone want to tell me why I saw Lily kissing a random guy who's not Zeke," Max asked curiously as she stood beside me.

"Yeah, I'd like to know the answer to that too," Mattie agreed.

"Well, first of all, she caught Zeke making out with Clary."

"Clary?" Mattie asked in disbelief.

"Well she is hot at least," Jay offered and Mattie smacked his arm.

"The blonde one? Yeah she is hot," Travis agreed and I was starting to wonder why he was still here.

"So they took making Lily and Liam jealous a step too far?" Tamron inferred.
