Luke's Point of View
I listened to the rain hitting the roof of my house. A loud crash of thunder had woken me up, and now I couldn't get back to sleep.
What got Zeus upset this time?
I wondered. If I knew my uncle, I knew he could have a short temper sometimes. And this was one of those sometimes.
I could hear my mom walking around downstairs. She must have just come back from work at the pharmacy in the local hospital. I knew what she'd do next. She'd walk around for a bit more before coming upstairs to make sure I was still in the house before going back downstairs to go to her room and sleep.
Sigh. I hated being grounded. I was missing all the good parties now, and couldn't do anything about it.
I shut my eyes when I heard my door open, pretending to be asleep. A few moments later, the door shut, and I opened my eyes again. My eyes wandered over to my aquariums.
Yes, multiple aquariums. What can I say? I'm the son of Poseidon, god of the sea, earthquakes, and horses. Of course I'm going to have fish, especially since I couldn't have a horse in town.
I caught myself wondering about Winter's horses. and then about Winter and her sister.
What are you thinking about her for? I thought. I hardly paid attention to others. There seemed to be a lot of kids at our school who did. Sure, there were a few groups, like the little trio of misfits, and Adam's group.
And Quin and Jasmine were together, so they were a group, or at least a couple.
I shook my head. It was confusing at my school. We were different than the other teens. We had an immortal parent, and instead of nine periods, we had eleven. Science, History, Reading, English, Math, Combat, Lunch, Greek History, two electives and gym.
Math class sucked. I couldn't memorize all the rules for doing the problems and I was slowly failing. Again.
Maybe I should see if that Micky girl will tutor me. She always does good on those tests. I thought.
I did need a tutor, and she had two things going for her. She could memorize those stupid rules, and she was the daughter of Hephaestus. She could build things that needed more than what we were learning now.
I shrugged. I'll ask her tomorrow. The rain had calmed down, thank the gods, and I wanted to go back to sleep.
I laid back down and shut my eyes, falling asleep.
