Harry's Point Of View

I was rushing out of my house as the bus pulled up.

"Wait!" I said as the doors started to close.

"Cutting it a bit fine today Styles." Mr. Mills said as he reopened the doors to let me on. I nodded a bit as I headed to the back. Nicky moved her bag as I sat down.

"'Cutting it a bit fine today Styles.'" She said, mimicking the bus driver's voice.

I laughed. "You mimic voices terribly." I retorted, setting my bag down at my feet. "Did you study for the test today?"

She nodded. "Of course I did. I stayed up all night." She yawned. "Again."

"Don't fall asleep during the test." I teased, poking her arm.

She laughed quietly. "Harry, when have I done that? Don't worry. I'm gonna get a coffee before school starts."

"Get me one while you're at it." I said, giving her puppy eyes.

She shook her head. "No way. Ask your girlfriend when she gets on." She said, trying, and failing, not to smile.

"You know Micky won't get me one." I said, sighing. Then what she said clicked. "Girlfriend?" I asked, smiling. "Did she say we were a couple?"

She rolled her eyes. "You guys have been a couple for a year now. You two just haven't given it a title. I did for you."

"Does she know?" I asked.

"As if I'd tell you first." She said, smirking. "I told her last evening when we were working on homework. Why couldn't you come?"

I rolled my eyes, sighing. "I was working out." I said, making quote marks in the air.

"Again?"

I nodded. "Yes, again."

Nicole looked at me, frowning. "So you aren't buff. What's wrong with that?"

I held out my stick arms. "I'm a son of Ares, the god of war. If a war comes, do you really think I'll be as great a defender as my half-siblings? No." I sighed. "I don't know what's wrong with me."

"Harry, stop picking on yourself. You're fine being a bunch of sticks attached to a post. I like you just fine, Micky likes you just fine, there's nothing wrong with your 'lack' of muscles." She scolded me.

The bus slowed before stopping completely. I scooted towards the window as Micky got on board, smiling as usual.

"Hey Nicky, Harry." She greeted, sitting next to me. I leaned over and put my arm around her.

"Hey beautiful. Are you ready for the test?" I asked.

She shook her head. "No. Mechanics is my stuff. Not biology." She said miserably.

I shrugged. "Well, then we can fail together.''

She smiled before looking at Nicole. "So what'd I miss?"

Nicole sighed. "Your boyfriend here's convinced that he's useless unless he's strong enough to lift a truck."

Micky chuckled. "So what if you're sticks on a post?" She asked looking at me. "That doesn't mean you're useless."

"Hey! That's what I said to him before you got on!" Nicole said, giving Micky a high-five.

"But if I was in a war with my half-siblings, I'd be useless. I can't fight like they can." I explained.

She seemed to think about it. "Hmm. I know!" She said, perking up. "You could be the bait." She finished, giggling.

Nicole laughed.

I frowned. "Ha ha ha. Very funny." I said, sarcasm dripping from the words.

"Anyways, I was wondering if you two would like to go into the forest after school? My mom's busy, and if I'm not home, I don't have to watch my brother." I said. I hated watching my little brother. He was nine years younger, and nine times as annoying.

"Why not?" Micky said at the same time that Nicole nodded.

"Great!" I picked my bag up as the bus pulled to a halt at our school.

The girls went in front of me, and we walked off the bus together.

"I'll see you guys in class." Nicole said before taking off towards the building, seeming nervous.

Micky bit her lip, watching her run.

"What's wrong?" I asked, confused. Nicole never ran to school, even if she was going to be late, and it'd been going on for a week or so now.

Micky looked at me. "You need to promise not to tell anyone." She said, waiting for me to nod. When she did so, she continued. "Adam's taken a fancy to her."

My eyes widened, shocked. This definitely wasn't good. "Why? No offense to her, but why does he want her now?"

She shook her head. "I don't know. But she's terrified that something bad will happen if he catches her out here."

My hand clenched into a fist, and I started walking towards the school. I had one thought: Drill it into that jock's head that he was to leave our friend alone.

"Please don't confront him." Micky said, ruining my thought. "It'll just make it worse for her."

I unclenched my fist and nodded. "Fine. I won't say anything. But if he starts bugging you, that crosses the line."

She nodded, staying quiet after that. Not that I blamed her. This side, the one inherited from Ares, rarely came out. I would rather be the class clown, who didn't really care what Adam or anyone else thought.
