Jade's Point of View

I laughed at a joke that Emi, one of my friends said. A couple of us were standing by my locker after we finished lunch, instead of going outside or going home until class.

"So how are you going to get Adam back?" Kaylie asked, moving the chandelier to the side so she could see into my little round mirror as she added some more lip gloss.

I thought about it. "I honestly don't know what he sees in that little know-it-all. It's not like she's better looking than me."

Emi shrugged. "Maybe he's just being a boy. You know how they are around girls. He's gonna come to his senses sooner or later. You know, like before."

The bell rang and I rolled my eyes. "See ya in Home Ec. girls." I said, walking to Greek History. "And Kaylie, don't forget to shut my locker when you're done."

I hummed slightly as I walked to class. Today hadn't been too bad. The talkamise twins were gone for today and tomorrow, thank the gods. Those two never talked about anything but horses. Obsessed much?

I slid into my desk next to the door and pulled my text book out, glancing at my nails to make sure there weren't any chips or broken nails I needed to tend to during class.

Mr. Grent cleared his throat, and the other students scrambled into their desks. I looked and batted my eyelashes at Adam.

"Miss Jade, please pay attention and put your nail polish on my desk. You can get it after class." Mr. Grent told me, frowning.

I rolled my eyes and sighed loudly before going to put my beloved lily pink nail polish on his desk. But I was not going to pay attention. Who needed to go to collage?

Not me.

"Now I know there are only a few days left in the school year, but that doesn't mean that there's still not stuff we can learn. Now, open your books to page three sixty-eight, paragraph two. Who wants to read first?"

I didn't know the name to the boy who volunteered to read, nor did I listen to him. I looked longingly at my nail polish on his desk before resting my head on my arms, lying on my desk.
