Quin's Point of View

I leaned against the wall, waiting for Combat to start. I needed to get my blood flowing for my other classes, and to be honest, this was my favorite class of the day.

I heard the door open, and looked to see who it was. I smiled when I saw Jasmine walk in, looking around.

"Jasmine, over here." I called, walking over to her. She stilled, looking in my direction.

I chuckled. "It's just me Jas." I said, taking her hand, earning a smile. "I've got a question for you."

She blinked. "What?"

"Why do you only smile around me?" I asked. "The gods know Hestia's daughter isn't that glum all the time."

Her smile faded. "You don't know what it's like being blind, Quin. I never know what to expect next."

I shook my head, and then remembered she couldn't see. "But I mean, look at you." I paused, seeing her frown." Sorry, bad choice of words. But you're amazing at this class. You always kick butt here."

"That's because I know everyone here. I know that Adam's going to go for the first hit, you'll try and get behind me, Lilly will just club me, stuff like that. If someone tried to, I don't know, mug me, I wouldn't know what they were going to do first." She said, sighing.

The bell rang, as a few other kids came walking in. I let go of Jasmine's hand and went back to the wall, waiting for the teacher to come in.

I glared at Lilly as she came in. She was never one of my favorites, and she just made me hate her more by how her and her brother thought less of everyone. The only one higher on the social ladder was Adam.

"Hey little bat, do you need me to tell you where I am?" Lilly called to Jasmine, laughing.

"Lilly, leave her alone." I said, walking over to her, crossing my arms.

"Quin, it's fine. Stay out of this. Please." Jasmine asked, biting her lip as she turned her head towards us.

Lilly rolled her black eyes. "Yeah, lover boy, stay out of it. She doesn't need you to defend her when she'll get her butt kicked in, like, two minutes."

"Where's your brother? If she's fighting you, I'm fighting him. Maybe I can make his eyes match yours." I threatened.

"You mean my half brother Zayn? He's not here." She said, flipping her hair back. "He's skipping again."

That chicken. I thought bitterly.

"Now, if you'll excuse me..." She said, walking away to stand in front of Jasmine.

I growled, and looked around before going to stand in front of Luke.

"Lilly?" He asked, noticing my fists.

"Yeah. Zayn skipped again." I muttered.

The teacher blew his whistle. "Remember." He barked. "You're done fighting when one of you surrenders. Remember the time when you finish."

I nodded and got into position. As usual, Luke went first, attempting to swipe my legs out from under me. I stumbled, but managed to keep my balance.

I moved behind him quickly, to try and get his arm behind him. It seemed to be the best way to end a fight, and the sooner we finished, the better the grade for the winner.

I glanced at Jasmine and Lilly. It wasn't fair that she fought Jasmine. Lilly was ruthless in this class. She never had a tacit, and it seemed half the time she wanted to kill her partner.

Even her dad wasn't that bad. To be honest, he was a pretty cool guy when he was with Persephone.

I wasn't paying attention to see Luke turn around and swing his other fist towards me.

It crashed into my jaw, and I released my hold on his arm to rub my jaw. I smirked and kicked out, hitting his shin. He exhaled through his teeth, clenching his eyes shut. I doubled the attack with my elbow, hitting his chest.

He fell back and stayed there, shaking his head, most likely to clear it.

"You done?" I asked.

He coughed and nodded, picking himself up. He coughed again before speaking. "You're getting better. See?" He asked, nodding to the clock, which said seven-forty five.

I was amazed. The fight only lasted fifteen minutes.
