Damien's Point of View
I looked at the windows if the cabin, now covered with branches. I was so stupid!
She wasn't supposed to know my powers until we had enough power to fight.
My heart ached. She wasn't supposed to hate me. We were half siblings by the gods. She was supposed to be on my side.
My shoulder throbbed from when she pushed me down. I hadn't been expecting her to do it, much less be able to do it. Elise had been messing with her thoughts enough to make it hard enough to move.
"Damien?"
I looked at Kid, who had waited outside for me after I sent him and Elise out of the cabin. "Yeah? What is it?"
"Will she be on our side? She seemed really mad at you and Elise about that girl. Her sister, I mean." He murmured, looking at his feet as we walked.
I studied him for a moment. For a son of Hermes, he was pretty average. He wasn't the smartest boy, and certainly was not a fighter.
And secretly, I was glad. Kid was super important to me, even if he loved Elise instead. I did everything I could to keep him in camp and away from danger.
"Damien?"
I snapped out of my thoughts to see him looking at me again.
"She will. I don't care what she thinks. She needs to be with family, and with Summer dead, nothing's stopping her now." I said, putting my hands in my pockets. "How are food supplies? Do we need to go hunting again, or can it wait?" I asked quickly, changing the topic.
He thought about it. "I don't know. If it was just the eight of us, then it could wait. But with her, food'll be going faster. I could go look-"
"No." I said, cutting him off. "You stay there and guard the camp. Elise and I will go hunt."
He seemed like he was about to protest, but decided against it. He nodded, staying quiet.
"I'm going into the town again today. You want to come with?" I offered, shrugging.
He brightened right away and nodded, probably glad to see something other than trees. "Ok. Is Elise guarding this time?"
"Yeah." I said.
