Niall's Point of View
I looked around the Math room when I entered, looking for any signs of Winter. Then I remembered her talking about the show the two of them were going to tomorrow.
"Darn." I muttered as I went to my desk and opened my notebook to the next blank page. I started to doodle on the margins, waiting for the bell to ring. Not that I'd take the notes. Mrs. Smith always went on and on during note days. It was practically the same things as in our books, but those took less to write down.
I still drew so it looked like I was writing though. The bell rang and Micky rushed into the classroom seconds afterwards, gripping her notebook and textbook tightly.
She must have gone to her locker again. I thought. I could never understand why she didn't use her backpack to carry things to class. It saved a lot of time, and that saved time could add up.
She sat down in the desk next to me and smiled, opening her books. "Hey."
"Hey. I see you're late. Again." I said, shaking my head playfully at her.
She scowled. "It's not my fault they put my locker on the other side of the school. They should have planned it better."
"Or, you could just use your backpack instead of your locker. And besides," I rolled my eyes. "everything in this school needs to have been better planned according to you."
She was about to talk when Mrs. Smith stood up and went to the whiteboard, drawing everyone's attention.
Mrs. Smith looked like she was almost a hundred, or more. I never understood how she could still teach, and make it boring.
Not to mention that she'd started teaching the first minute of the first day after pointing out the rules on the wall. Who does that? I thought that the first day was supposed be filled with introductions, stories and questions.
"Mr. Horan?" Her voice snapped me out of my thoughts. "Are you paying attention?"
I stopped drawing and looked up. "Yes Ma'am."
She nodded. "Then please do explain how to solve the problem on the board." She said, causing me to glance at the board. And then glance at it again.
"Um..." I trailed, staring at the problem. It seemed easy enough. " Well, first you need to figure out the area of the cube, which is 6 meters squared times six. that equals 279,936 meters squared." Right?
She narrowed her eyesat me from behind her glasses before nodding. "Very good, Mr. Horan."
I nodded a little, relieved I got it right and returned to my doodle scribbled sheet in my notebook. I was working on the throne room on Olympus.
My dad, Zeus had taken me there once, along with a lot of the other gods bringing their kids from here, a few years ago. I tried to remember the details from then, and they seemed to come easy enough.
