Nicole's Point of View

I yawned, and flipped another page of my biology book. Yawning again, I looked up at my clock, and wasn't surprised to see that it was four in the morning. I'd been studying all night for the science test.

I stood up and stretched. I was seriously in need of some breakfast. That's what staying up does to you, guys.

I opened my door and peeked my head out, making sure my dad wasn't home from Tanya's yet. Not that he didn't mind me doing this sort of thing a lot.

I stepped into the hallway, my socks trying to cling to the carpet from my room. I started walking to the kitchen, shivering. I stopped near the entrance to mess with the thermostat. My house was pretty large, and we constantly had to mess with the temperature to keep it warm.

I walked into the kitchen and straight to the cupboard, looking for the Cheerios.

"Where'd you go?" I ask, digging around for them. At last I found them, hiding behind the box of Lucky Charms that Tanya kept over her for when she visited.

The front door unlocked at I whirled around, only to find my dad turned around trying to shut it.

"Hey dad." I said, going over to give him a hug.

"Hey Nicky." He said, calling me by my nickname. He looked at my box of cereal, then the clock, and then at me. "Studying?"

I nodded. "What were you doing at Tanya's so late?" I asked, nudging him with my elbow.

He rubbed his head. "She needed help with her computer." He said, shrugging. "The darn thing, I woulda had you call Micky if it wasn't so late. I think it just didn't want to live anymore."

I giggled. "You should invite her over tonight. Tanya's fun." I said, giving him a hug before going back into my room to eat and finish studying.

"Hey Nicole?" He called from the kitchen.

I stopped and turned my head, looking at him. "Yeah?"

"You can invite those two you always have over here. Tanya likes having them around too."

I blinked, surprised. "Really? Harry and Micky can come too? Sweet!"

"Go to bed tonight!" He called as I went to my room.

When there, I grabbed a handful of cereal and started to eat while putting my text books away in my backpack. it was five-thirty, and I only had an hour until the bus came.

I went to my dresser and pulled out a random shirt and a pair of blue jeans. I looked at the shirt and laughed. It was one of the ones that said 'I'm mentally correcting your grammar' on the front.

I quickly changed and started to brush my hair, working through the tangles roughly. My hair took forever to brush, and Micky kept saying that I should cut it.

As if. I couldn't handle short hair. I loved it long. I could do all sorts of things with it, all sorts of designs.

When I was done, I just did a simple braid. I'd do more on the bus, but I didn't have time now. I looked in the mirror hanging on my closet and carefully put a bit of mascara on, as well as some lip gloss. Nothing like the other kids at school, but enough for me.

"Bye Dad!" I called as I headed out of the house, running to the bus stop at the corner of my block.

The bus pulled up, screeching to a stop. The doors opened and a small group of kids pushed in front of me in their hurry to get out of the cold. Not that the bus was much warmer.

When I got on, I quickly headed to the back of the bus and set my stuff in the seat and then sat down in the half seat across from it.

I looked out the window as the bus moved, waiting for Harry's stop to come into view.
