Akane's P.O.V

Rebuilding of the village starts soon after Naruto comes back and everyone helps clear the rubble and rebuild. "Hey Kakashi," I say, grabbing his attention while we're clearing rubble, and nearby Yamato sprouts a couple more houses up using wood style. "What is it?" He asks and stops what he's doing to look at me. "How do you feel about moving in together? We could make the house of our dreams together" I ask him while blushing, he thinks for a moment and I can see his face blushing a light pink as well "I think that'd be amazing" He finally says and I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding in. "You had me scared there for a second thinking it was a terrible idea" I laugh out and he chuckles with me. We get back to work and talk with the coordinators helping piece the village back together on requesting land to be able to build on. Everyone moved quickly and there was already a blueprint of what the village will look like when building is done, we picked out a plot of land that will be towards the edge of the woods that had a good amount of land to work with. "With your ankle being broken, maybe we should ask Yamato to build the house for us" Kakashi mentions while we're walking to where our new home will be.

"No! I want us to build it together, my ankle won't be a problem" I tell him with passion and he laughs at me "I wanted this piece of land because this is where the boulder we used to always go, they're going to be helping the river carve it's way back through the forest too so we'll have the sound of running water nearby" I explain to him and stop walking "I want it to be something special for us that we share together, so I want to build to together, alone as much as we can" He stops walking now too and looks at me "That's beautiful, okay! We'll build our future home together, just the two of us" He says, giving a big smile and lots of enthusiasm making me laugh a little "Now you just need to yell 'youth!' and you'll sound just like Gai" I laugh, and now he's embarrassed. We finish walking to where our plot of land is and both sigh upon seeing all the wreckage piled up in the area. "I guess it's so far from where everything is mostly cleared that nobody has made it back here yet to clean it up" Kakashi sighs again and I throw my crutches to the ground "Well, let's not waste time then and get to work!" I say, trying to move forward but Kakashi stops me from moving from my space "No, you're gonna take a seat right here and rest. You've been moving around too much and you're going to make your ankle worse" Kakashi says while sitting me down and I comply with a puff of frustration.

"Fine, hand me a stick and I'll start drafting a layout plan" I wave my hand in the direction of some of the rubble for Kakashi to hand me a stick and he just laughs and hands one over. I sit there as Kakashi clears the rubble, I draw a floor plan and erase it with my foot before trying a different layout and run through it about 20 times before settling on a design and layout I liked. A small two-story home with a large side garden next to where the river was planned to be carved "Kakashi come here, does this look good?" I ask him as he comes to take a break next to me and plops down on the ground "Hmmm..." He hums and rests his head on my shoulder "You know what, I really like it. I think this could be our forever home" He tells me, pulling down his mask to give me a warm smile and drink some water. After a moment of just relaxing Kakashi lets out a huff and lays back, closing his eyes and putting his arm over his face, I look down at him "Are you ever going to tell me what Naruto was talking about when you brought him back to the village?" I ask him, he takes a quick look at me before covering his eyes again "When the time is right" Is all he says. I take it, for now, having an idea of what it might be about but deciding not to ruin anything by telling him and laying back with him.

After a nap on the ground, we get up and decide to find something to eat closer to the center of the village. As we're walking around looking for something to eat we run into Hisoka and Juro with little baby Hiroko. "Hisoka! I'm so glad to see you guys, how're things going?" I walk up to them and give her a hug "We're doing good, I'm glad to see that you two are okay as well. We were just about to get some food, did you want to join us?" Hisoka asks, I look over at Kakashi to make sure he's okay with it too and he gives me a little nod of approval "We'd love to" I tell her and we all find a place to eat together. They sit Hiroko at the end of the table and I play with him as we all catch up together "We were actually on detail with Lady Tsunade together, we didn't make it but with the revival thing we thankfully made it back to our little boy" Juro tells us "I was in a battle with one of the Pain's and died as well" Kakashi tells them "I was still examining one of Pain's bodies when they attacked; when I finished up I helped out of the hospital but I have no idea if I died or not" I tell him, taking a break from Hiroko as Hisoka gave him some food. 

"Juro and I had a long talk afterward, we are grateful to still be here and raise Hiroko and want to lessen the chances of us not being here for him so we turned in our masks" Hisoka tells us. I'm shocked and take a moment to think "W-what are you guys going to do now?" I eventually mutter out, Kakashi places a hand on my lower back in a reassuring way and I look at him unsure of what to think. "Well, for now, Hisoka is going to be focusing on Hiroko and I'm helping the village rebuild, I'm working for a construction company" Juro explains "We're sorry about leaving you, but this is what's best for our family" Hisoka tells me "No I'm happy for you guys, you have a wonderful little boy you need to raise and you know what's best for your family" I tell her "You don't need to apologize to me or justify the decisions you make," I tell her, our food arrives and we catch up on other topics. At the end of the night, we say goodbye to them and parted ways, Kakashi and I make our way to the temporary tents where most of the village was staying. We settle and get ready for bed. Climbing under the blanket and taking a deep breath I settle into Kakashi's side and he wraps an arm around me.

"You know, what Juro and Hisoka told us earlier got me thinking," Kakashi says and I'm about to drift off to sleep "And what's that?" I ask him with a yawn and snuggle into him more "What if you turn in your mask too?" I shoot straight up and stare at him confused "Hear me out, you've come close to death so many times and have actually died before. I can't bare the thought of losing you ever and I don't want you to put yourself in that kind of danger anymore. You're an amazing medical ninja and are meant to put your life at risk last, you're the most crucial team member in a unit" Kakashi tries to explain himself "Point is," He continues and sits up as well "I can't lose you"

It's been a while but here's another chapter! I'm thinking of wrapping up the book soon and laying this series to rest before it goes on too long. I do have ideas and even characters made up to go along with the next gen but I don't want it to become like Boruto lol.  Loves. As always,
