Kakashi's P.O.V

"I love you, Kakashi" Akane says. My chest feels tight and burns, my heart races and I can feel my face and ears burn as well. I squeeze Akane's hands a little and let out a little laugh while starting to cry just slightly "I love you too, Akane" I tell her, looking into her eyes. She pulls down my mask and we share a gentle kiss. When we pull away from our kiss we put our foreheads together and smile "I don't know why, but I feel like apologizing again" Akane says and laughs a little "You have no reason to apologize right now, you apologize too much anyways" I tell her and she laughs again "I really do love you" She says and we share another kiss.

Months and months go by, nothing really happens between Akane and I but we're able to talk and be around each other like we're good friends again. Akane said that she didn't really want to start dating until she got released from the hospital at earliest, she gives the reason that we wouldn't be able to go on dates or do much since she wasn't allowed to leave the hospital grounds and on certain days she wasn't even allowed to leave her room or have visitors; and I have to agree with her there, she has a point. But now it was December and it'd been half a year since she woke up, just two months ago we have a big birthday party for the 29th birthday. Today was also the day that she was finally being released and everyone had come together once more to bring her home and have a party. We, as in Kurenai, Asuma, Gai, Kotetsu, Genma, Izumo, Juro, Hisoka, and I, are waiting in the waiting room of the hospital from Akane while our teams and Akane's other ANBU friends are at her house waiting for her. Kurenai brought Akane some clothes so all we were waiting for is her to change then check out and she was free to leave.

Akane comes out a few minutes later wearing what she would normally wear, a black t-shirt, black pants, and her a second pair of ANBU boots she had because she really liked the style of them. It was also cold outside so I brought her cloak and handed it to her when she walked up to us "Hi everyone" She says after taking her cloak and gives everyone her infamous closed eyed smile with the tilt of the head, the group of everyone says their hellos with smiles before Akane smiles once again "Ms. Mitizu, once you sign out you're good to go" The lady behind the desk calls out to her "Thank you" She calls back before looking at us all for a moment "I'll be right back" She says before walking over to the desk to sign herself out. Once she's done she puts on her cloak and we all leave for her house. Once everyone gets there and Akane turns on the lights, the house is filled with everyone yelling 'Surprise!'. Akane covers her mouth with her hands and smiles "You guys really shouldn't have" She says and smiles widely with her hands away from her face so that everyone could see. I help Akane take of her cloak then she starts to mingle with everyone.

It's now been about a month since Akane was released from the hospital, Naruto comes back to village is four months and Akane is already back to her normal self where she's training and going on missions with her ANBU team and even though she's back to training, she isn't pushing herself like she used to which is a good thing. It was a rainy Saturday night and I was walking home from the grocery store with food I bought to make dinner when I run into Akane "Oh, hey" I say and she stops to look at me "Hello Ai-chan!" Akane says with a big smile and walks up to me "Are you heading home from the store?" She asks and I nod "Why don't we get under cover and talk?" I suggest, she simply nods before we walk over to an over head that was near by "Where are you heading?" I ask once we get under cover "I was heading to the store as well, my fridge is pretty empty" She tells me and I nod "Do you want to come over to my house? I bought more food than I need" I tell her and hold up my bad a little "Oh, I don't want to intrude on your evening" She says and shakes her hand "You won't be, I was just going to make myself some dinner and when maybe watch a movie or something" I tell her and she smiles "Then I'd love to come over, but only if I get to help make dinner" She say and I nod "Deal" I tell her and we smile.

We walk back to my house in silence but quickly since the rain was starting to pick up. We get back to my house and we're soaking wet "Man, I did't know the rain was supposed to be that bad tonight" Akane says and peels off her cloak and hangs it on my coat hanger "Do you want some dry clothes?" I ask taking off my cloak as well and hanging it up "Absolutely, your clothes are so comfy" She says and rubs her hands together before taking off her shoes, I laugh a little and take off my shoes as well before we go into my bedroom. I give her a change of clothes and we both just change in my room together since it wasn't awkward, I mean, we've seen each other naked before so this is nothing. I take our wet clothes and put them in a basket so that when it was day time and dry out I could hang them up to dry. We cook dinner together and Akane sings a random tune while we do, after we finish making dinner we take our food to the couch where I put on a movie I rented a few days ago and never got a chance to watch until now. Before we know it, we've eaten all our food and were cuddling under a blanket to stay warm and eventually we fall asleep together on the couch.
