Under The Full Moon (Ziam Abo)

CHAPTER 12

Zayn completely expects himself to wake up to curls tickling his face while hands cling to him in a fierce cuddle (Liam's a cuddler, he loves cuddling and being held, Zayn knows now). But instead, he wakes up for to tiny hands around his neck and small head stuffed to under of his chin.

He blindly feels around the bed for Liam, but the sheets are cold. Liam had left awhile ago, it seems. He starts panicking a moment later, wondering if it's another episode of avoid-Zayn-at-all-costs. That makes him sigh. Why did Liam even avoid him in first place? Why just him?

Just when he thinks he knows Liam, or at least on some aspects, Liam goes ahead and does something that surprises and annoys Zayn.

Why would Liam leave when Zayn's still asleep? 

Phew.

He cups a hand around Coco (Who's clinging to his neck as usual and refuses to wake up even if Zayn sits up) and makes his way to the bathroom. When Zayn starts brushing his teeth (Still holding Coco up) and the squirrel gets annoyed and jumps off to curl into his bed again. Zayn shakes his head to himself and makes a mental note check in Google of how many hours a squirrel naturally sleeps.

Coco might be an exception, he knows.

That's not surprising, Zayn must have rubbed off on Coco, being a heavy sleeper himself.

Its after his shower that he finds Coco still asleep, head poked underneath a pillow that's too big for him while he's sprawled about like a star.

"Wake up, Coco" He nudges his body slightly and gets a tail twitch in answer. "Hey, wake up!"

Coco resolutely ignores him and Zayn might have rubbed off on him too much, perhaps.

"You are a menace" he mutters and saunters out. He wonders if he should peak inside the guest room to check if Liam's in there. But he decides against it and makes his way downstairs, frowning when smell of food and tea hangs heavy in air.

"He told me to tell you that he's very sorry, Liam" he hears Niall say before he spots him standing by Liam in the kitchen. The omega is stirring something in the pan with a wooden spoon and keeping his eyes carefully off Niall.

"You see, he's always wanted a partner for himself. He's been waiting it so long" Niall continues "And he adores babies, just wants one for himself. I'm not saying what he did is excusable, but he's sorry yeah?"

"I'm not mad at him" Zayn hears Liam reply. "I never said I was. And I understand, you don't have to explain it to me"

"I may not know you, but I'm sorry too. You didn't deserve it" Niall says softly and Zayn is extremely clueless. What even is going on?

"It wasn't your fault. Its just me" Liam finally turns towards Niall. Both of them are immersed in such a serious conversation that they don't notice Zayn at all.

"If I weren't the way I am, well, things would be much easier I guess" Liam nods to himself. "I've come to accept it myself, Niall. That I can't- cannot-"

He cuts himself off with a deep sigh.

And Zayn's beginning to worry. Surely there's something serious going on without his knowledge. Hell, even Niall knows, but Zayn has no idea. What could it be about?

"But I was in a feeling that I would never find someone for myself, someone like Zayn especially. It was so unexpected" Liam confesses too quietly, his voice laced with unknown pain. "I was okay, I accepted myself before all this turn of events. But now I'm wondering if I'm worthy enough to be with him"
