“When are you planning to call Trisha?” Harry questions him and Zayn sighs. “You are procrastinating it”

It wasn’t a question.

“What do I even tell them, Harry?” Zayn questions tiredly. They both are alone in the car. Liam wanted to use the loo and he wasn’t pleased, but both Niall and Louis have accompanied him to make sure he’s not spotted. Zayn was anxious of letting him go even with his friends, and Niall said it’s because he’s an Alpha. They are generally very protective over their omegas and anxious to be away from them. It made Zayn wonder how he would have ended up if he hadn’t accompanied Liam in this trip.

“Tell them the truth?”

“It won’t work” Zayn shakes his head “They will only see that I abandoned the pack”

“You didn’t” Harry disagrees with him.

“Technically, no” Zayn shrugs “But theoretically, yes.”

“Do you regret this?” Harry questions him and receives a headshake “Do you trust Alec?”

“Of course” Zayn looks bewildered at the question.

“Then, you need to stop beating yourself up over it” Harry tells him “The choice was needed to be made and you left to protect the pack, Zayn. Didn’t you?”

“I still feel guilty, H” Zayn confesses “And I don’t know how my family is going to take this. I haven’t been in contact with them in ages”

There’s a reason why Zayn avoids that talk. He was the one to insist their family to return back home and let him handle things. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t miss them. Phone call with his mum always ends in one of them crying and Zayn feels pretty shitty for rest of the day. So he avoids the emotional breakdown as much as he can.

Though he called his family once after Liam arrived, he’s yet to tell them about him. There’s that.

Things weren’t this serious in between them back then, they were only beginning to acknowledge the attraction. But now, he has no idea how to tell them he met someone. He has never had that talk before.

“And they expected me to be with you” Zayn says “I think they still do”

Harry sighs “Yeah”

“It’s not a bad thing, but Liam is packless” Zayn sighs too “And not to mention, this whole Deaton problem. This whole thing is complicated”

“Love is complicated” Harry states “It’s not easy all the time. And like I once said, however complicated it may be, it’s worth it”

“Are you never going to tell Louis how you feel?” Zayn questions after a pause.

Harry looks away “He wanted me to stay back because I’m an Omega”

“Because he cares for you”

“Zayn” Harry turns back to him, eyes hard “You cannot lock us up just because you fear something is going to happen to us. You alphas should get that into your thick skull”

Zayn huffs out “I know that’s wrong. But imagine you just dropping out of nowhere? Or someone getting you just to threaten us?”

“That does not excuse what he said, Zayn”

“So you are mad at him then?” Zayn asks, just to clarify.

“Yes but, that idiot is grown ass man but still gets cranky just because Niall left his window up” Harry says and Zayn blinks.
