It's maybe due to the patrolling he does almost every night, sometimes not even in his wolf form. Alec's wolf is as big as Zayn's but it's the dominant and authoritative aura that Zayn omits that makes him the leader Alpha of the pack. When they are in their wolf form, it's a struggle to disobey the leader.

But Alec notices it instantly. He's packing the groceries into the small truck, opting to come alone because he needed sometime to clear his thoughts. Now though, he regrets it. He sees a familiar sleek black car turn around the corner and stop meters away from Alec. And he doesn't have any good feeling about this.

He continues with loading the goods and keeps an eye on the car at the same time. Men step out of it suddenly, and Alec freezes for a moment when he sees Garret among the men. He thought they have successfully dodged them, but he's wrong. Garret is eyeing him with something akin to anger and Alec has no idea what to do now. When the men move, his first action is to flee as soon as possible. Because he's alone and having a chit chat with them without knowing what brought them back is clearly not the best idea right now.

He slams the doors shut and walks around to get inside the driver seat. But Garret and his men run to get him with literal guns in their hands and Alec scurries to slam the door shut of the driver seat and immediately start the truck. It doesn't take Garret long to follow him, and his car is fast. He tries to block Alec's truck, but the latter swiftly avoids the block with his impressive driving skills.

They speed down the road with the car still trying to catch him. Alec knows now, something has gone wrong. Their plan didn't work and if Alec gets caught now, that means Zayn will too. Alec so can't have it, no matter how hurt he is that Zayn chose Liam over everything, he's still Alec's best mate.

When Garret does over take him, Alec takes a blind left and speeds down a mud road. It isn't very smooth; there are too many ups and downs. The truck stumbles down the road with the car still trying to catch him. Maybe Alec should have just driven past the car and crushed it. That would have done the job, but Alec's not a killer. The morals he set for himself will never let him harm others, until it came to save his friends, his only family.

The problem is, the road gets too short for the truck and disappears into middle of woods. The tire rolls over a rock and the truck nearly topple sideways. Alec's just glancing at the side mirror and back when he sees a thick tree branch ready to break into the windows. He has only a second before he throws open the door and throws himself out. thank goodness he forgot to buckle on his seatbelt. He crashes to the ground painfully, his shoulder definitely dislocated when sharp pain shoots up his arm. He groans and watches the smoke from the truck cloud the surrounding thickly as it hits a tree and shudders to a stop.

He has no choice but pick himself up and limp away. The fog shields him from view as he runs for his life. His night patrols pays him off, cause he knows these woods like back of his hands. He knows it won't be a good idea to lead them back to the pack, but if he hides or runs, they'll approach the pack without doubt. And everything will go to hell.

His shoulder stings like bitch with every painful step and he grits his teeth, his eyes dripping with tears from the sting. He leans across a bark and pulls out his phone to call Josh and warn. But then there's gunshot sounds echoing around the woods and Alec barely has time to shield himself.
