four: district 12's biggest threats

"Kat. Kat."

I woke up from Finnick gently tapping my shoulder. I opened my eyes and looked around, it was still dark outside.
"We're here now." He said with a smile.

"What time is it?" I asked, still half a sleep.

"1am but people of the Capitol are everywhere outside." I stood up to look out the window to see hundreds of Capitol citizens eagerly waiting for us to make an appearance.

"I'm going to wake up Mags." Finnick said before leaving the room.

I walked to my designated room to fix up my hair, and pulled it up into a high ponytail, with little bits of strand hanging in the front of my face.

Finnick appeared and leaned against the door as he watched me. "You ready?" He asked as I nodded and placed the hair brush back in the drawer.

The door to the train opened as I took a deep breath.

Every time I step foot into the Capitol, I become a whole other person. But this year, that person has one goal.

To kill the girl who brought her back as a tribute once again,

Katniss Everdeen.

Everyone immediately started screaming and yelling our names as soon as we walked out of the train. Despite it being the middle of the night, they still had lots of energy inside of them to scream at the top of their lungs.

I grinned as I waved at them and winking at a few which made them go wild.

Once we got away from the crowd, we then took the elevator to the fourth floor where we all went straight to bed.

It was early in the morning and none of us got that much sleep prior, so we all fell asleep pretty fast.

"I need you guys to forget everything you think you know about the games. Last year was child's play, This year, you're dealing with all experienced killers." Haymitch said to the two tributes sitting down in front of him.

"Alright, what does that mean for us?" Peeta asked.

" It means you're gonna have to have some allies." Haymitch replied, walking closer to the pair.

"Ok, I think that if we-"

You're not the problem." Haymitch interrupts, pointing a finger at Katniss.

Katniss immediately replied with a firm 'no'. "Look your starting with a disadvantage, most of these people have been friends for years, some even their whole lives."

"That just puts us higher on their kill list" Katniss argued. "Do it your own way, but I know these people, and their first move will be to hunt you down. Both of you."

Katniss thinks for a second before speaking up again, "How could any of us even trust each other?"

"It's not about trust, it's about staying alive." He replied as he got up and turned on the TV to show the other districts.

"Cashmere and Gloss, brother and sister from District 1. They won back-to-back games, Capitol favourites, lots of sponsors, they will be lethal."

"And the other half of the career pack, Brutus and Enobaria."

"What's with her teeth" Katniss asked staring at the girl from 2 on the screen.

"She had them filed into fangs so she could rip peoples throats out." Haymitch said casually.

"She's committed i'll give her that."

They go through district 3 and 6 before going back to district 4.

"Finnick Odair right?" Katniss asked as the screen changed to a tall and muscular blonde man grinning.

"Yes, he won his games at 14, youngest male ever, extremely humble."
"You're kidding."
"Yes I'm kidding, he's a peacock, a total preener." Haymitch said as he flicked a bit of hair out of his face.

Then the screen changed to a girl, roughly around the same height, slightly shorter, she was smirking as she walked next to Finnick.

"Katia Odair."

Katniss leaned into the table in front of her, inspecting the girl on the screen. She was very familiar with the name, hearing it many times around the district and especially at the capitol.

"Also brother and sister. Katia also won her games at 14, and was and is to this day, the capitol's favourite. She's mine too."

"Why's that?" Peeta asked. Clearly none of them actually watched her games.

Haymitch sighed at their lack of knowledge about the victor, "She killed 11 people during the bloodbath in odd but entertaining ways, including two careers on her own. When it was down to her and the last tribute, she put on a brilliant show for everyone watching when she poured hot lava all across his body, then repeatedly stabbed him with her knives around his body. Then she finally ended his miserable life the way he had killed her district partner, slicing his head off with a sword." Haymitch sounded proud as he spoke about the girl.

Peeta and Katniss looked at each other, processing what Haymitch had just informed them about the victor. "Why did she do that?" Katniss asked.

"Boredom? Entertainment? Revenge? Who knows. But it was hella entertaining to say the least. Her games also only lasted for 2 days, making it the quickest game anyone had seen in a very long time." Katniss and Peeta looked at each other again, clearly intimidated by Katia.

"But the pair are Capitol darlings, they love them here. Wherever you go, there's always people talking about them. Finnick's charming, smart and very skilled in combat, especially in water. Katia on the other hand is brutal, aggressive and skilled in practically everything especially with knives. During her games she only really knew how to fight with knives, spears and tridents, but after living in district 2, she learnt how to be skilled in everything else as well."

"Wait- District 2? She lived in district 2?" Katniss asked confused.

"LIVES not lived in district 2. Ah I forgot to mention, Katia Odair, Brutus and Enobaria's best friend. Them 3 are extremely close. Enobaria and Katia became friends at the victors party after Katia's games, she offered her to come live in district 2 with her and Brutus a few days later." He explained.

"So she's a career as well?" Peeta asked.

"Well- that's the thing. No one knows who she's going to be allies with this year. Her brother, or her bestfriends."

Peeta and Katniss stayed silent for a while, taking in all the new information before Peeta spoke up again. "What about weaknesses?"

"None. So Katia Odair will be your biggest threat."
