Chapter 19

Alyssa's POV

"Did you tell Sam about your plan?" Sabi ni Ate Bianca. Kasalukuyan kaming nasa condo ko. I'm sitting on the couch watching something on TV while she settles herself next to me.

I muted the TV and sighed. "Need ba talaga nya malaman?"

Tumaas ang kilay sakin ni Ate Bianca, "Of course! Because this is really about her."

Bumuka pa lang ang bibig ko pero naunahan ako ni Ate B magsalita.

"And don't you dare deny it."

Napasandal ako sa couch at minasahe ko ang sintido ko.

"I know ikaw ang nagdedecide ng mga volleyball related decisions but I am not letting you do this one without telling her first."

"I don't want her to feel guilty."

"She will be more guilty if ginawa mo yun nang hindi nya alam and then eventually malaman nya. The worse is on going na trials nila by that time. Makakadagdag ka pa sa iisipin nya, gusto mo ba yun?"

"Bakit kasi sabay???" Reklamo ko.

Ate B's eyes soften on me. She understands me, that's for sure.

"You really like her." She said.

Silence. Before ako sumagot itinakip ko muna mga kamay ko sa mukha ko.

"I'm in love with her."

Yes, from day one, I know I am attracted to her. Falling for her is a process. An easy process, indeed. Ang dali dali nyang mahalin e and I just found myself so deep already.

Is it the kiss? Nah, I think I've already fallen way before that.

"Sobra." Sabi ko pa.

Silence again.

Unti unti kong tinanggal yung mga kamay ko at tiningnan si Ate Bianca. Nakangiti lang sya na umiinom ng kape.

Nang nakita nyang nakatingin ako, she said.. "I knew it."

Then I continued.. "I was away when Lia died. I wasn't there. And I feel like it's happening again. I know this is a totally different situation but I will not be here if I joined the national team. Her trial will start right after we fly to Thailand for training. At two months yun Ate B. Dapat alam ko na priorities ko diba? Dapat nandito ako to support her."

"Kaya you want to beg off."

"Yeah.." I said habang nakatingin sa ceiling.

"But you are the captain of the national team, and the standing will be totally different without you." Ate B told me.

"We did not know that. Dami naman magagaling na hitters." Sabi ko.

"Oo nga, but you're the heart of the team ever since. You're the captain. At lagot ka sa team besh mo pag di ka nagjoin."

She is trying to lighten the conversation. Team besh. Kasama sa pool ng national team sila Ella and Denden, mga friends ko din from college na nasa ibang team sa current conference.

I sighed. "Mali bang iprioritize ko naman yung mahal ko this time?" Sa totoo, lagot talaga ako kay Ella.. more like sa asar ni Ella kapag nalaman nya ang reason. Pero maiintindihan naman nila.

"Mahal.. susko. In love na in love." Ate B teased.

I rolled my eyes pero di ko tinanggi. Totoo naman e.

"Alam mo, di naman kita pipigilan dyan kung ano magiging decision mo. Pero ang sakin lang, ipaalam mo kay Samantha. Magagalit yun sayo kapag sa iba nya nalaman."
