Chapter 25

Albie's POV

Day 1 after the last session. I fear silence kasi baka dun sila nagpaplot kung ano gagawin. The first thing that comes to my mind when we received that threat is to protect the witnesses. And I already did that kagabi pa lang. I have to go to Sam's condo today just to remind her of every protocol I set up in case, there's an emergency. Alam kong medyo oa but Sam is right, we are threatened as well.

I pressed the elevator of Sam's condo from the parking area, around 10am, and when it opened, Alyssa was there. Then I realized, shit.

She seems pacing when the elevator door opened and when she saw me, she's like a deer caught in headlights.

I think, we both look like that at the moment.

Then, we simultaneously speak.

"I probably did something wrong!" Alyssa said.

"Oh my God, I forgot about you!" I said.

...

"What?!" sabay pa kami.

"Okay ikaw muna!" Biglang sabi ni Alyssa.

"What did you do?!" Sabi ko naman. Because in my mind, doing something wrong is worse than forgetting something.

"Okay, ako muna. Sabi ko nga." She said.

I entered the elevator and when we pressed the right floor, she said, "I think, may nag-aabang sa condo ko?"

"What?! Are you okay?" I asked and I think my stress level just spiked. I forgot that she's still doing training outside, and I am not able to give her security. Akala ko, she's just staying here all day. At buti na lang, she is still in one piece. "You didn't tell me na uuwi ka pa sa condo mo?"

"Whoa. Concern yan?" Sabi nya kaya sinamaan ko sya ng tingin. Of course, I'm concerned.

"Sorry." She raised her hands in surrender nung nakita nya yung tingin ko. "Eto na nga. I realized na there's something strange about the person in the lobby and sabi mo nga, maging alert tayo so hindi na ako tumuloy sa condo ko, dumerecho ako dito kasi alam kong may security, pero feeling ko nasundan nya ako, di ko alam. Then ngayon ko lang narealize na may security ka din naman nilagay sa condo ko dati diba. So I don't know, did I do something wrong? Kasi parang nalaman ba nya tong condo because of me?"

"Why didn't you contact me or the other number that gave you?!" I said na parang pinapagalitan ko sya. "Where's your phone?!"

"Naiwan ko e." Matipid nyang sagot. "Sorry."

"Hay" I said. I am already alerting the head of security as she is telling me the story. "Anyway, sige na, okay lang. You did the right thing na pumunta dito. Mahigpit naman dyan sa baba. At alam na naman nila condo ni Sam. Most important is that you're safe." I said.

Then the elevator dings and we both got out.

"You forgot about what?" She asked.

And here I thought, she will let that go after telling her concern.

"Uhmm.." I thought of the best way to say it while she is kind of impatiently waiting. Ngayon ko lang nakita si Alyssa na impatient. Feeling ko gusto lang nya gumanti.

"I just thought, you are here all day. Nawala sa isip ko na you are doing training nga pala. You'll be having security din. Don't worry, they are very subtle and won't bother you. Just until the trial is over." I nonchalantly said.

"You forgot about me?!" she said unbelievingly as we are walking down the hallway.

"Sorry." I said but I did not sound sorry at all. Maybe, that's why she is not that impressed.
