Toni Talks

Toni:
We are very fortunate to have this guest today. So many strings pulled but here we are. She is the most controversial celebrity for the past two years, a model, actress and now, one of the fashion designer of the upcoming Under the Stars Fashion Week, Samantha Bernardo. Hi Sam.

And the camera shot widen to include Sam sitting across Toni.

Sam:
Hi. Wow. Thanks for that intro.

Toni:
And thanks for agreeing with this interview. Alam nyo po, napakahirap magschedule kay Samantha kasi mahigpit ang manager nya. Hahaha! No, but she's my friend. I just want to say hi to Bianca and thank you for making this possible. This is your first exclusive interview, right?

Sam:
Hahaha! Hi Ate B. Yes, this is the first and the only exclusive.. so far.

Toni:
Yess. We're so lucky pala.

Samantha just smiled.

Toni:
So how are you after that big win?

Sam:
Oh. Uhmm. I'm okay. Doing good. Busy preparing for the launch.

Toni:
That's good. It's nice to have your old life back?

Samantha:
Well, it's a new life.

Toni:
Yeahh! That's right. I stand corrected, guys.

Sam:
Hahaha!

Toni:
Okay. So, before we talk about your upcoming launch. Let's talk about your early years in showbiz. Kasi you started in the entertainment industry, when? Years ago, you were still a teenager. So paano ka nadiscover?

Sam:
I was 18 - 19, I guess. Nagstart ako as model ng brands.

Toni:
Yeah. You are all over the mall dati, diba?

Sam:
Hahaha! Hindi naman. Not all over. That's exaggerated.

Toni:
No. You are just humble. You are ambassador of a clothing brand and shoes and perfume. What else?

Sam:
Essentials.

Toni:
See?

Sam:
But the thing is, in our industry today, diba masyado madami talents and one thing about brand ambassadors, kahit you are everywhere, di ka naman napapansin. It's not like having a breakout movie or series. You should have that enough exposure on TV to be recognized. But it's a start.

Toni:
That's true. But most of the brand ambassadors at your time, I observed, the most is around three brands lang. But you have a lot.

Sam:
Kasi sobrang swerte ko din siguro na yung first brand na na-sign ko is part of a chain. They were impressed by my first shoot, I think, so nirefer nila ako sa ibang brands. And nagtuloy tuloy na hanggang commercial.

Toni:
How did you do it? Do you have training or workshop before.

Sam:
I don't.

Toni:
Wow.

Sam:
No, I think dahil na rin, my body is naturally skinny so if it's a clothing brand, madali syang i-model. And eto yung sabi sakin nung isang photographer dati, kasi the way I move daw kapag nasa harap na ng camera, graceful, which I think nakuha ko sa gymnastics. I'm into it when I am in elementary papuntang high school.

Toni:
Yeah, I agree ha. You are graceful.

Sam:
Hahaha! In front of the camera. In real life, I don't think so. Baka I know how to project lang.

Toni:
Okay, so para maachieve yung tuloy tuloy na career from there, you have to sign a handler, right?

Sam:
Yeah. Nung una, wala talaga ako, kasi nakita ko lang announcement ng audition sa social media e. Then, next are referrals lang within sa product chain. So wala pa rin ako manager nun. By the time na nag-aaudition na ko for commercials, I was discovered and have signed with Ms. Marielle, you remember her?
