Well, that plan was short lived.
Just as the sun began to set, the storm clouds moved in.
It poured down hard.
Bad timing for me, because I was sleeping at the park.
By the time I had walked to the Curtis house, I was drenched.
“My clothes are all wet, my cigarettes are ruined!” I yelled, as I barged into the front door of the Curtis house.
Everyone was there, playing cards and watching tv.
I stood there, as water dripped off of me, and pooled under my feet.
“Go to Pony’s room and get some clothes, before you flood the house.” Darry joked.
“Ha, ha, ha.” I spoke sarcastically, as I walked through the house to Ponyboy and Sodas room.
Ponyboy was sitting at his desk in the corner, looking through his textbook.
His eyes scanned over the words, not even looking up for a second.
I grabbed a shirt from the closet, and a pair of pajama pants from his dresser.
I quickly changed, facing in the opposite direction of where he was.
“You almost done?” I asked him.
“Yeah, i've only got one more paragraph.” Ponyboy said.
He was studying so quietly, almost peaceful…. I couldn't stand it, I had to mess with him.
I grabbed my soaked shirt, and threw it at him.
I ran through the house, as he chased me.
Pony was a lot faster than me, being in track and all.
“Knock it off before you two break something!” Darry huffed.
I groaned, as I flopped down on the couch between Twobit and Johnny.
We sat and watched Mickey Mouse for a while, Dallas stood in the corner of the room.
He stared at me, his dark brown eyes scanned my body.
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see a smirk form at the corner of his lips.Steve had approached him by then, and began talking to him about cars.
As Dallas participated in the conversation, his eyes never left me.
I could feel my pulse quicken again, and every breath I took became short and shallow.
“Let's go out for a cigarette.” Johnny whispered into my ear.
I softly nodded, and followed him outside.
“Thanks, Johnny.” I said, as he lit a cigarette for me.
I put it to my lips, and took a long drag from it.
I jumped up, and sat on the railing of the front porch.“You have a set of eyes tonight.” Johnny said, leaning against the railing, as he lit a cigarette for himself.
“I see that.” I looked up, and away from Johnny.
I could see through the small window on the front door, Dallas was still looking at me.
He didn't even try to look away, it was almost as if Dallas Winston wanted me to see him looking.
I swallowed hard, and quickly looked back at Johnny.
