Dallas Winston and I seemed like we were back to square one again.

We didn't say much to each other, but at least we were talking.

And we were still pleasant.

I just don't know why he got so upset with me when we had talked a few days ago.

After the third day of Darry making me stay in the house, he finally let me go out.

That morning, Johnny and I had gone to my house and rounded up all the money I had saved.

I used it to buy Dallas Winston a brand new jean jacket.

It cost just about all the money I had.

I was happy to buy it for him too, after all I owed it to him.

That night Johnny and I had made it back to the curtis house after a long day of walking around.

More Johnny looked so tired, but he tried not to show it.

I think he was just trying his best to make me happy and get me out of the house finally.

...

Johnny and I stood in the kitchen at the counters eating sandwiches, when twobit barged in.

"Heyyyy! Party, Buck Merrill's, you coming?" His words slurred together a bit.

Twobit was a little past tipsy.

"Yes!" I exclaimed.

Johnny gave him a small nod.

"I don't think so." Darry said walking out of his room.

I walked towards the door and slipped my old shoes on from years ago.

They were all busted up, and the soles had holes in them.

I had no other choice, they were the only shoes I had left.

"Why not?" I asked.

"I just don't think it's a good idea.  Knowing you you're gonna get ripping drunk, and then you're gonna get hurt or something." Darry shook his head, as he walked over to me.

"I've got Johnny with me, he'll babysit." I winked at Darry, as I picked up my bag, which had Dallas brand new jacket in it.

He had to be there.

Dallas was always at Buck Merrill's parties.

Darry took a deep breath in as he thought.

"Alright," Darry turned to Johnny, "Now, only let her have 3 drinks.  Got it?"

"I'll try my best.  She's hard to keep track of sometimes, she sort of sneaks off." Johnny defended himself.

Darry then turned to Twobit.

"Now, don't instigate her.  I know how you two are when your together." Darry spoke sternly two Twobit.

A large grin spread across his face, as he let out a giggle.

And the three of us rushed out the door.

"You got your breaks fixed?" I asked Twobit, as the three of us piled into his car.

"Yupppp." He smiled, as we drove off.

"You sure you should be driving?" Johnny bit his nails nervously, as we swerved all over the road.

"Yuppppp." Twobit giggled.
