Hey guys, I'm back again with another request! This one was from Wasser5466707 and they requested and Ruby and LB one shot about them working together and bonding. This one is set after BAYD and I hope it's what you imagined! I hope you like it xx

The agents of Spectrum 8 had made their way down to the street after an eventful encounter on the rooftop of the Eye Hospital. The clock had barely struck twelve and already the new year was in full swing. While the party continued in the ballroom, agents of all Spectrum divisions were cordoning off the street below where the body of a woman lay, lifeless and in the hands of her judgement day.

Mrs Digby had made her way back to the party along with Ruby's parents and the loyal husky, leaving LB, Hitch, Ruby and Clancy to attend to the crime scene. She hadn't asked questions, merely gave Hitch a knowing look and silently agreed to leave that conversation for another time.

As the four individuals ducked under the police tape, not one of them were shocked to see The Count's absence.

"He always was a slippery one," said a familiar voice.

Stanley Delaware had made his way over to the group and nodded in the direction of Casey.

"Dead," he whispered.

LB began to walk over to the body, Hitch, Ruby and Clancy following. She kneeled down beside her former colleague, a bittersweet taste in her throat.

"You," she whispered, her voice as gravely as ever. "Out of everyone, it was you?"

Ruby kneeled down beside her, carefully placing an arm on her shoulder. Loveday didn't move, her gaze trained on the woman's eyes, filled with the horror she must have felt, falling to her death.

"What do you want us to do with the body?" Asked Delaware, who had made his way towards them. "She's your agent so it's your call."

LB didn't even hesitate. "I want her buried next to him," she said, turning her gaze to the well dressed man standing beside Hitch. "I want-"

For the first time, Ruby heard LB's voice break, the sadness she had been containing within her seeping through.

"I want her next to Bradley," she choked.

"Why?" Asked Delaware, as confused as all who could hear the conversation.

"I want her to see him, to know that we both lost. She died to be as great as him, he died and I lost him. I lost then,"

Two tears slipped from her deep brown eyes, her face set in stone.

"There are no winners in this game," she muttered, bitterly. "Only two kinds of losers: dead and alive."

"I don't believe that," said Clancy, his face filled with a grief no one could quite understand. "Bradley died so she would, you lived because he couldn't. Bradley won, you won. Casey lost, not us," he paused momentarily. "Not Spectrum."

"He's right you know," added Ruby, her arms now wrapping themselves around her boss. "As was Froghorn, though I hate to admit it. No one could beat the great Bradley Baker, but I dare say that there was no Bradley without Loveday Byrd and Hitchen Zachary."

LB looked at Ruby then but, for the first time, she wasn't analysing her, she was just looking into the eyes of a young girl.

"Nor is there Ruby Redfort without Clancy Crew," she said, her gaze unreadable.

"Despite her calling me a bozo all the time," Clancy chimed in.

Hitch snorted and LB smiled.

"You know I love you, buster," grinned Ruby.

"How could ya not?" Asked Clancy. "I am rather fabulous."

"Indeed you are," sighed LB.

She turned to Hitch, standing from her crouched position.

"I told myself I would never hire children," she grimaced.

"And here you are about to hire another one," grinned Hitch.

He turned to Ruby and Clancy, who where now stood beside each other.

"She always knew you knew by the way," he chucked. "We just wanted to see how long you'd be able to keep up the lie."

Ruby's mouth dropped open.

"So you tricked me all this time?" She asked, in mock offence.

"Eh, a butler has gotta have some fun," he grinned.

LB smiled, like really smiled.

"In all seriousness now though," continued Hitch, turning to LB. "Please can I stop wearing suits now?"

LB scoffed.

"Absolutely not! You look adorable," she giggled.

"I feel like I'm back at school," Hitch groaned.

"Wait, so you don't like suits either?" Asked Ruby.

"He hates them," nodded LB. "But I think they make him look handsome."

"Looking handsome is not part of my job description," sighed Hitch.

The three others burst into giggles then, for all of them knew that, for Hitch, looking handsome didn't need to be a requirement; he always did.

Ruby and Clancy spent the next few months completing training together while also assisting LB in the repair of Spectrum. Clancy finally got to put some faces to names he had heard constantly.

Hitch was not allowed to stop wearing suits, much to his dismay.

"You know," said Ruby one afternoon when he was complaining about his attire. "She has a point. You do look adorable."

"Since when was looking adorable something a secret agent would want?" He asked. "I'm supposed to kick asses not be someone's toy to play dress up!"

"Maybe," nodded Ruby. "But you still look cute."

Ruby and LB were the last ones in Spectrum HQ one night, working on some security systems when something completely out of the blue happened.

"Thank you," said LB, her gaze softening as it landed on the girl.

"What for?" Asked Ruby, gobsmacked that LB even had that phrase in her vocabulary.

"For believing me when no one else would have," she sighed. "And for the record, Bradley didn't do half the things they claim he did."

"You're kidding?" Gasped Ruby.

"Nope," confirmed LB. "Don't get me wrong, he was a great agent, but he was only chosen as the hero figure because the one who really did all those things was never a fan of the spotlight."

Realisation dawned on Ruby, her green eyes widening.

"Hitch," she exclaimed.

LB nodded and smiled.

"How did I not see this before?"

"Because he didn't want you to," laughed LB. "Never been one to take credit has Hitch."

Ruby smiled.

"Why are you telling me this?" She asked.

"Because, trust me, we all know what's it's like to have to live up to Bradley's legacy. I thought it may help to know that you already have."

Their dynamic had switched within a matter of weeks. Now, Ruby saw LB as a safe space, a protector but, most of all, a friend. And what a friend she was. Ruby Redfort knew one thing for sure: Bradley Baker was one lucky man.

I hope you liked this! It was a bit rushed so I'm sorry if it's not as good as some of my previous stuff but I hope you liked it nonetheless. All the love xxx
