Entering through the door, she was met with a chair and desk in front of a window. Hank was on the other side in front of an android covered in blue blood and dirt. She stood in between Connor and Gavin, and behind an officer who sat in the chair. The three of them watched as Hank got nowhere. He tried being calm, even snapping his fingers to try and get some sort of reaction. In the end, he slammed his hands down on the table to try and get a rise from him, yelling at him to answer.

Hank sighed, standing up and leaving the room. Gavin moved to the other side of the room, leaning against the wall whilst Y/n stood on Connor's right. Hank entered, clearly frustrated, "We're wastin' our time interrogatin' a fuckin' machine, we're gettin' nothin' out of it!" He plopped down into the chair, staring at the android in question.

"'Could always try roughin' it up a little." Gavin started, looking at the silent machine, "After all, it's not human-"

"Shut up, Gavin!" Y/n started, glaring at him. Earning a glare back, Connor intervened.

"Androids don't feel pain, you would only damage it and that wouldn't get it to talk." Biting the inside of her cheek, she listened to the extra information Connor gave, "Deviants also have a tendency to self-destruct when they're in stressful situations-"

"Okay, smartass," Gavin interrupted, clearly annoyed by the android's information, "What should we do then?"

Connor thought for a minute, "I could try questioning it."

Gavin's laugh filled the empty room, nobody else laughing along with him. Y/n rolled her eyes at the infuriating detective, "I think it's a good idea, Connor. I think that an android has a better chance at connecting with another android than any human could."

Hank shrugged, "What do we have to lose?" Hank looked at Connor and gestured for him to go, "Go ahead. Suspect's all yours."

Connor left the room, leaving Gavin scoffing and Y/n smiling. She liked it when Gavin didn't get his own way; it felt like he was getting a reality check. The three watched him analyse the situation including the android and the file. They watched as Connor went for a more logical and composed approach as he began showing photos of the body and informing him of things he already knew. Gavin looked irritated, rolling his eyes at any time he could.

"You know, if you keep rolling your eyes they'll get stuck like that."

"That'd be a fuckin' dream. At least then I wouldn't have to see you or that plastic prick."

"Will you two shut the fuck up?" Hank grumbled, "We're fuckin' gettin' somewhere."

The two looked through the window to see Connor threatening to probe the android's memory, the android suddenly looking up and yelling, "NO!"

"He got him to talk!"

The poor android was on edge having learnt that he would be disassembled after the interrogation. She had been on a few deviant cases back in New York but nothing this bad. He feared death, visibly shaking. Biting her lip, she watched as he approached the android with caution, trying to convince it. In the end, she watched as the android told his story - a story of torture and abuse.

In the end, Connor knew everything he needed to know. Hank and the officer stood and entered, Y/n and Gavin not far behind. The officer tried to help him up but the android flinched away from his touch. Connor tried to intervene, Gavin telling him to shut up.

"Chris, are you gonna move this asshole or not?"

"I-I'm trying!"

"I can't let you do that!" Connor pulled Chris off of the android, "Leave it alone, now!"

Gavin pulled his gun out on Connor, "I warned you, motherfucker!"

"Gavin!" Y/n yelled, clearly distressed and disgusted by his selfish actions.

"That's enough!" Hank demanded.

"Mind your own business, Hank." Gavin spat through gritted teeth.

"I said," Hank pulled his own gun out, pointing it straight at Gavin's head, "that's enough."

Gavin put his gun down, spitting profanities as he left. Excusing herself, Y/n left the room soon after Gavin. With a heavy heart, she headed back to her desk. Sitting down in her chair was one of the biggest reliefs she experienced, being able to relax after everything she had just witnessed. She sighed when she heard Fowler shout for Gavin and herself to go to his office. She looked over at Gavin who shared a look of disgust with her, the two entering the office.

"It's good to see you both. Due to the new cases cropping up, I have decided to make you both partners and have you tackle some homicide and red ice cases."

Gavin was the first to have an objection to this, "You're pairing me up with her? I don't need any fuckin' help!"

"I'm not sure if us working together would be the most beneficial, sir-"

"BOTH OF YOU, SHUT UP!" Gavin shut his mouth, the girl gnawing on her lip, "You two will be working together on these cases and I don't want to hear another word about it! Now, get out of my office!"

Leaving with Gavin, she felt his glare on her. She tried to get on with some paperwork she had, only to be disturbed by a frustrated Hank 20 minutes or so later. "Fuckin' Fowler... stupid fuckin' androids..."

"Everything okay, Hank?"

"Fowler's made that tin can my partner and assigned me all of those stupid fuckin' android cases."

"Oh, shit, that sucks. Well, think about it, this might be your chance to give yourself a name again!"

"I don't fuckin' know, I need a drink..."

"Hey, it can't any worse than what I'm going to be dealing with until god knows how long."

"Did Fowler give you some mediocre work or somethin'?"

"No, he gave me the opportunity to work on homicide and red ice cases."

"What's so bad about that?"

"I have to work with Gavin."

"Heh, that's a fuckin' treat." Hank noticed Connor walking back over, "Good luck with that one, Y/n."

"Good afternoon Lieutenant, Detective L/n."

"Hi, Connor." She gave him a tired smile.

"Are you feeling okay from this morning? I would suggest taking a few minutes to yourself to go through some breathing exercises to recover-"

"Recover? What the hell are you talkin' about?"

"Jamie was driving pretty recklessly this morning. He nearly crashed and it gave me a bit of a scare."

Hank gave her a disapproving look. Hank had met Jamie a handful of times, once at a restaurant for Y/n's birthday and a few other times when she'd get picked up from his house or other gatherings. He never really liked him, the man being quite antisocial and taking Y/n away from the party a lot. Sighing, he ordered Connor to drop the subject.
