It had almost been a week. The cases that had cropped up for herself and Gavin were menial or easy to figure out. It was only until today that they got a case worth getting pumped up for. The case involved the death of a man who was killed by what we could only assume is one of the androids in The Eden Club.
Up until this point, Y/n had never even heard of The Eden Club. When she still lived in Detroit androids were something of a prototype. Elijah Kamski was still stuck trying to figure out how to make them a reality. The idea of sex worker androids had crossed her mind but the reality of them was something she had yet to see.
Gavin drove the two of them to the scene, Y/n shifting uncomfortably in her seat. "So, who's the new girl?"
Gavin rose an eyebrow, smirking at how observant she was, "What, you jealous?"
"No! I just wanna know who it is in case I make a new enemy by adjusting the seat."
"It's just a girl I met at the bar. Name's Claire." He explained, stopping at the red light, "I had to adjust it for her."
"Was she difficult?"
"Not as difficult as you."
"Fuck off." He began to drive as the light turned green, turning the vehicle onto a colourful street. "Her perfume smells nice."
"She bathes in it. I think it's to hide the smell of smoke."
"Maybe you should do what she does."
"Don't start with that; I quit years ago." The confession took her by surprise, turning to him with confusion laced into her feature, "I didn't quit because of you, broad, I quit because I wanted to."
Parking the car, the man got out of the vehicle with the h/c in tow. An officer took the two of them to the crime scene. Walking past the almost naked androids made her shift uncomfortably, one of the male ones approaching her.
"I can show you a really good time." The girl gave it an uncomfortable smile, shocked when she was pulled away.
"Back off!" Gavin threatened, the android walking away, "Plastic prick.." Gavin kept his grip on her wrist as he pulled her towards Ben Collins, a veteran police officer. Y/n had spoken to him a handful of times when it came to any question she had due to Gavin refusing to answer them.
"Where's the body?"
"In that room." Gavin looked at the door and nodded, pulling the h/c into the room. There lay a man covered up by the blanket provided by the club, a Traci dead by the wall and an officer taking pictures. Gavin lets go of her wrist, walking over to the body.
"Michael Graham. He was a regular customer here. His record states that he purchased two and the cause of death was strangulation."
"His fault for putting his trust in two hunks of plastic."
"There was a witness."
"A witness?"
The two left the crime scene, Gavin following her to another room where a man in his thirties sat on the bed. He had dirty blonde hair and brown eyes that bore into the ground, his physique being a lot more built than most. He wore a robe with The Eden Club logo on it, marking it as something he borrowed. He looked up, his lips twisting into a smile.
"Babe, thank god you're here!" Gavin looked at her in shock, the same emotions infecting her features.
"J-Jamie? What are you-"
"I was here to just let off some steam. Sex with the androids here is great and they aren't human so it doesn't class as cheating!"
She was frozen, not knowing what to do. Gavin looked between her and Jamie, his heart heavy as he realised what was going through her mind.
"Jamie, how could you?! I-I stay loyal to you and you do this?!" A confused look was sent her way, the anger coursing through her veins pumping harder, "God, just-"
"What the hell is going on?!" Jamie looked over at the angered detective.
"Sorry about this, Detective. I'm Jamie Faun. She sometimes forgets that we're in an open relationship." Gavin wanted to put him in his place but refrained from doing so.
"Whatever. We wanted to ask you a few questions about the death of Michael Graham." Jamie sat up, nodding, "Did you have any relationship with him?"
"He was a friend of mine. We go to the bar together sometimes."
"Which bar?"
"Jimmy's Bar."
"Right, and did you know that he'd be here today?"
"Yeah, he told me how he planned on renting two of them. I copied what he did and boy was he right, that shit felt amazing!" Gavin rolled his eyes, giving Y/n a glance. She stood by the wall, her eyes trained on the floor. He shook off the guilt when he heard Jamie speak up, "Hey, why do you keep staring at my girlfriend? You tryna get with her or somethin'?"
"Maybe I am. You said your relationship is open, right? Then you wouldn't mind if I took her out tonight?" Jamie went to speak but stopped himself, "That's what I thought. Come on, L/n. Let's get out of here." Gavin began to leave the room, looking over at the quiet girl, "Come on, Detective, we don't have all night!"
She looked up at Jamie, noticing a familiar look in his eyes. It was a look of confusion like he wasn't in the wrong. His ignorance infuriated her, the urge to punch him clouding her judgement.
"You're really gonna go on a date with that bozo?" A laugh ripped through the room, and Gavin was infuriated as he took steps forward. "You could do way better-"
"Gavin, don't you dare stoop to his level." Grabbing his shoulder, he looked at her and softened slightly. "Let's just leave. I'll deal with him later."
Leaving with him, the two walked into the room of the crime scene to see Hank and Connor looking over the scene
"Lieutenant Anderson and his plastic pet... The fuck are you two doin' here?"
"We've been assigned all cases involving androids," Connor answers as Gavin rolled his eyes.
"Oh, yeah? Well, you're wasting your time. Just some pervert who, uh, got more action than he could handle" He laughed at his own joke, Y/n rolling her own eyes at his childish nature.
"We'll have a look anyway if you don't mind," Hank answered smugly, Gavin letting his face morph back into its usual scowl.
"Come on, let's go... It's, uh, starting to stink of booze in here..." Gavin left the room, Y/n punching his arm before following suit.
"Night, Hank. Get home safe." Was the last thing she said to him that night.
