Gavin paled when he heard a knock at the door. He ran to open it, revealing his tutor. "Shit, Y/n, you need to go."

"What, why?"

"My cousin is here..." With that, a boy walked downstairs to see what the ruckus was about. He was taller than Gavin by a few inches and was dressed in pretty casual attire. A grey shirt with a pop culture reference, jeans and a zip-up hoodie. He wore glasses and had messy brown hair that was a similar colour to Gavin's. "Elijah, I told you to fuckin' stay upstairs!"

"Sorry, I just heard a girl and wanted to know who it was." The brunette, whose name was Elijah, walked towards her and held his hand out, "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Elijah Kamski, Gavin's cousin. And you are?"

"Oh, I'm Y/n L/n. I'm Gavin's friend from school. I tutor him." Shaking his hand, she noticed that his hands were a little clammy. Elijah raised an eyebrow directed at Gavin who had his arms crossed, shrugging.

"Well, it's nice to meet one of Gavin's friends who aren't high when I meet them." This rose a small chuckle out of the girl as they pulled away from the handshake, "Would you like to come in for a snack or something to drink?"

"Elijah, this is my goddamn house!"

"Sorry, Gavin, I just thought that if she's here that she'd at least want something to eat."

"If it's not too much trouble, I wouldn't mind something to drink."

"Of course!" The taller of the three ushered her inside with a smile, walking her to the kitchen. Gavin slammed the door shut with a scowl, infuriated that the two had met. Even though he was intelligent, Elijah was like a machine.

"So, are you excited to graduate this year?"

"Oh, I've already finished my university studies."

"Oh, really? You don't look any older than Gavin or I."

"I'm only a few months older than Gavin. I graduated early. I'm currently working on creating androids with artificial intelligence. I recently made a breakthrough so I have a strong feeling that my work will change the course of history."

"Wow, that sounds incredible! What will the androids do?"

"Everything. I plan on creating androids that can perform different tasks like taking care of children and chores, gardening, teaching, etc. It's all very big dreams but I believe that these breakthroughs could be incredible."

"How come you're in Detroit then?"

"Ah, well, the commercial property here is cheaper than most." Elijah looked towards the front door where he could faintly see smoke coming back into the house from outside, "I decided that, since I was in the neighbourhood, I would visit. He's never usually this hostile though."

"Really? This is, like, his normal amount of hostility with me."

"Is that so? He usually swears a lot and smokes but he's never acted out this much." He looked like he was in thought for a moment before letting a small smile grace his lips, "Perhaps he's jealous that we're getting along so well."

"I seriously doubt that."

"Connor and Hank are going to visit Elijah today." The h/c informed, sipping on her coffee as she watched Gavin put a shirt on.

"Good for them."

"Do you not talk to him much anymore?"

"That asshole isolated himself years ago; as if I'm going out of my way to talk to him when all he cares about is machines."

"Oh, I remember hearing about that. He resigned as CEO and then left Cyberlife." Pondering, she mumbled, "I wonder why."

"Yeah, well, that asshole's dead to me." He poured himself his own cup of coffee, "He can jump off the edge of the cliff he lives on for all I care."

Smacking his arm, she gasped, "Gavin! That's your cousin, you can't say things like that!"

"He fuckin' deserves it! That asshole is worth billions and he didn't give a penny of it to his family." Sighing, the girl finishes her coffee before packing her bag for work.

"We were put on a case that might lead to more information on the production of red ice. You up for it?"

"Sure, shouldn't be too bad."

Both came face to face with a building. It was a run-down apartment building that she knew was notorious for having some sketchy stuff go down in. "Wow, this place looks like it might crumble."

"It better not." Walking over to Ben Collins, Gavin was first to notice his confused expression.

"Everything good, Collins?"

"We've checked every floor, every room and nothin'. Not a drop of evidence. All we found was a note in a jacket that had an address on it. The address was for a laundr-o-mat."

Her heart sank, asking to see the note whilst Gavin decided to check for any secret passages. The laundry room felt like the obvious place to check first because of the address on the note. Moving everything including the washing chemicals, the clothes and the machines themselves, his heart leapt when he saw that there was a hole in the wall big enough to crawl through.

His efforts were amiss, however, when he came to realise that there was nothing through that way. Sighing, he left and swiped the cobwebs out of his hair as he walked out of the room to find Y/n pacing.

"Detective L/n, I really think you should sit down for a moment-"

"Surely, you've checked the-the laundr-o-mat? Or you've done something to double-check this place?"

"I assure you, Detective, we've checked the address and there was nothing there."

"But-"

"What's going on?" Both detectives looked over at a very confused Gavin who was waiting for an answer.

"There's nothing to be seen here so I'm going to investigate this since you guys can't read the handwriting." She walked away, Gavin following after her.

"Woah, are you gonna tell me what the hell is happening here?"

"No, now get in the car or you're walking home."

"Jesus, fine." He got into the passenger's seat as Y/n started the car, not giving the man a chance to buckle his seatbelt. He was going to complain but seeing her deadpan stare and her knuckles turning white from how tightly she was gripping the steering wheel, he decided to keep quiet. That was until he recognised the street they were driving up, "Woah, why the hell are we here?"

"Just stay quiet." She parked the car and got out, cocking her gun and turning the safety off before she knocked loudly on the door, "This is the DPD, open the door!" A few seconds went by, Gavin now also having his gun cocked before the door unlocked and opened to reveal a tall blonde.

"Jamie Faun, you are under arrest for the production and distribution of illegal substances."
