Panic was laced into every crevice of his face. It was 7 in the morning and his roommate was gone. He ran to his car, driving straight to the precinct. If there was a chance she was there he was going to take it. He tapped against the wheel, trying to calm his nerves as he drove.

Nearly ripping the car door from its hinges, he ran into the precinct. He ran to see that her desk was untouched, the only thing there being her bag. Turning to the glass office, he saw her talking to Fowler.

"Jesus, Reed, if you break that door you'll pay for it!" Was Fowler's reaction to him slamming open the door. Gavin fumed, ignoring his Captain's threats.

"Where the hell did you go? I woke up this morning and you were fucking missing!"

"I just went to work early. We have a lot of work to catch up on-"

"If you two are going to have a lover's quarrel in my office then GET OUT!" The two walked out, Gavin holding her hand as he pulled her to the interrogation room.

"What are you doing? Let go of me-!" He leaned against the door and let go of her hand, giving her a scowl.

"Why the hell did you run off this morning?"

"Do you not remember last night?" He thought back to the night before, covering his face as he groaned. Rubbing the bridge of his nose, he sighed.

"Look, what I said last night wasn't true. Claire broke up with me and work was getting to me." Watching him close, she noticed the bandage around his hand was falling off and needed changing. Before she could ask, he began to speak again, "I need to know something." Running a hand through his hair, he spoke, "Why do you always fuckin' run away from people who actually like you?"

"Gavin, I don't know. Maybe it's because every guy I have ever liked has turned out to be an asshole? I just... I wanted someone who actually cared about me." She looked up to see he was looking straight at her, "Not some guy that smoked and called me names every time he saw me."

"So, you'd date that asshole that cheated on you but not me?"

"He was nice at first, you were horrible from the start!" Walking over to him, she crossed her arms, "Why the hell do you even care?"

"Yeah, you're right, why do I care?" He opened the door and left, leaving her baffled. Scoffing, she left the room and went straight to her desk, ignoring any stares she got.

Sometime later, footsteps approached her desk. She looked up to see Connor and gave a small smile, "Morning, Connor."

"Good morning, Detective L/n. Do you know where Leuitenant Anderson is?"

"He's probably sleeping in. He'll be in soon." Hearing a yawn, she looked up to see Hank walking in, "Speak of the devil." Watching Connor go to his desk, she got back to the paperwork she had to do. She had looked up a few times and noticed that Gavin was gone, assuming that he had gone to an investigation without her. She was well aware of why but she hoped that she could go with him at least once.

The h/c was eating an apple when she saw her computer monitor switch to broadcasting. It was an android who had gotten rid of their skin and was preaching about having equal rights for androids. Smiling slightly, she watched the entire broadcast until it was switched off when it ended. Looking around at her colleagues, most of them looked disgusted. Hank was shocked while Connor was confused. They began talking, not bothering to stop when the phone at her desk started ringing.

She picked up the plastic, holding it up to her ear while playing with the wire, "Hello, this is Detective L/n."

"Did you just see that broadcast?"

"I'm pretty sure the entire precinct saw it. People don't look too happy."

"I'm not fuckin' surprised."

"Why are you calling me about it?"

"Because I just saw the FBI heading straight for the broadcasting centre."

"What?!" People began looking at her, making her awkwardly smile before turning back to the phone, "What are you talking about?"

"The FBI is going to the broadcasting centre. I think they're gonna kick Hank and his plastic pet off the case."

"You know, you're one of the people who contribute to the need for androids to fight for their rights."

"Don't tell me you-" She put the phone down, groaning. It was infuriating having him as a partner.

"Is everything okay, Detective?"

"Have you guys gotten a case in Stratford Tower?"

Connor's LED blinked yellow before returning to blue, "Yes, why do you ask?"

"You need to go. Now. I think they're going to kick you off the case." The boys gave each other a look before getting up, the two leaving the building. Biting her lip, she watched Gavin push past the two and walk to his desk. Huffing, the girl stood up and walked over, sitting on his desk.

"The fuck do you want?"

"What are you going to do if the androids get their rights?"

"The fuck are you talkin' about?"

"Look, I don't know why, but you really hate androids. If they get their own rights, are you gonna stay or are you gonna fuck off?"

Gavin went quiet for a moment, refusing to look at her. Sighing, she walked back to her desk. She wasn't sure why she even expected an answer from him at this point.

The two drove home that night in silence, Gavin clearly irritated. "I'm gonna order take out tonight."

"Sounds good."

That was all the conversation the two wished to partake in for the car ride. Rain was quick to rub herself against the two when they arrived, Y/n reaching down to pick her up which the cat happily complied to. Holding the cat to her chest, she leaned against the wall as she watched him order the food.

Inspecting him, she noticed he had more scars now. The short glimpse of him shirtless gave her an idea of what police had put him through, imagining that a lot of it was to do with the job. The scarring on his nose had not fully healed like she thought, leaving a noticeable scar on the bridge of his nose. "I can see you staring, Priss."

"Sorry." Looking away, she looked down at Rain who had been looking up at her the whole time. Catching another glance, she watched as he walked past and took his jacket off, throwing it to the side before he got the cat food out. Rain jumped out of the h/c's arms while she stared at the brunette's defined ones. She was aware that he was physically fit, clearly, but it was the first time she had actually had the chance to look.

"You're not slick, y'know." This time embarrassment rushed to her cheeks, the girl ignored his words and walked to her room, "Hey, wait!"

"What's up?"

"I'm gonna stay." He couldn't look at her when he said it. "I don't hate androids. Just the tin can at work."

"Because you're scared he'll take your job?"

"Fuck no! He's annoying as balls."

"Sure, that's the only reason." She stepped forward, leaning closer before she left a peck on his cheek, "Thank you, though. I'm... proud of you."
