"Hey, Gavin?" The brunette looked over at her, getting his head out of his phone for a moment, "What would you do if I was held at gunpoint?"

He rose an eyebrow, "Is that something that's going on in your book?" He looked at the book in her hands, the girl holding it closer to her as she gave him a cheeky grin.

"Maybe..." She dragged out the word, "Come on, answer!"

"Well, I dunno, I'd probably save you."

"That's it?"

"You know what, I change my mind." The girl looked at him with a hopeful expression, "I'd let you die."

She gave an offended look, kicking him in the stomach. He burst into laughter, holding his stomach in pain as the infectious hysterics tickled her, rising laughter out of herself. The boy crawled over to where she lay, laying on the pillow beside her. His hand reached her face, cupping her cheek and stroking her soft skin with his calloused thumb.

"You're such a softy, Gavin."

"Change is good, isn't it?"

"I never said it was a bad thing, dummy."

A soft smile played along his lips as he leaned in, capturing her lips in a soft, gentle kiss. It wasn't like any other kiss he gave her. The others were full of lust but this felt so loving. So addictive. So... wrong.

Pulling away, the girl sat up, shrugging the boy's coat off as she took her book and began to gather her belongings.

"Hey, hey, Y/n!" He got off the bed, cupping her cheek as he tried to get her to look at him.

"Please, Gavin, don't."

"What are you talking about?" She looked up at him with guilty eyes, tears beginning to fill them.

"I-I can't be with you. This was just meant to be meaningless sex. But..." She ran a hand through her hair, "You'd take a bullet for me."

"Y/n, are you trying to tell me that you're not ready to commit to me?"

"I-I'm sorry, Gavin-"

"You fucking used me?"

"We were using each other at first!"

"Yeah, at first. The moment that someone might love you, you just run away!" He yells, walking after her as she left the room, "You did it to Tommy and now you're doing it to me!"

"I'm sorry, Gavin, okay? I can't change this to make it better but you have to accept that you fell in too deep!"

"You're a lying slut!" She looked at him, noticing that tears had streamed down his face. He was crying over her, "You made me soft and now you're just gonna leave!"

"Gavin-"

"Get out of my fucking house."

"But-"

"GET THE FUCK OUT!"

Her head felt like there was construction happening inside of it. Feeling dizzy, she refrained from sitting up until she felt a weight on her stomach. Lifting her head to see what had perched on her abdomen, she noticed a calico cat led on her stomach staring at her with maple-coloured eyes. The black and brown patches mixed into her soft, white fur created a mesmerising effect. "Who might you be?"

"That's Rain." Looking over at the doorway, she saw a shirtless Gavin leaning against the frame, "She's pretty cuddly so I'd suggest that you get used to it."

"Get used to it? What do you-"

"I spoke to Fowler about your situation. He can't get the money out of Jamie's account so he's stopping the payments from your wage going into that account and he's gonna help you open a new account today." He explained, walking over and lifting the cat off of her, "So, you'll be living with me until you can get your own place."

"With you? Will that not be awkward for you?"

"Look, we used to have sex every other day. The only person who will be awkward is you when you hear how much sex I have a week."

"Yeah, admitting you have zero play would be pretty awkward."

"Fuck you." Walking to the doorway with Rain, he stopped, "I made toast by the way, so I'd get out of bed before it gets cold."

Following him into the dining room, she failed to ignore how much more toned he was since the last time she saw him. The man had a noticeable six-pack now and his arms were a lot more toned than when he was 18. He wasn't bulky, just toned. It made her feel weak at the knees.

Sitting at the table, she began to eat the toast slowly. She almost choked on it when he spoke again, "You look good in my clothes."

"Wow, flirting with a girl who just got her heart broken; real mature."

"There's no chance in hell that you actually liked that guy. He looks like a gym rat."

"You look like a gym rat."

"Yeah, well, based on your last boyfriend you'd probably like me, huh?"

"You're an asshole; I don't date assholes."

"You dated him."

"Can we just drop this?" After finishing her breakfast, she ran a hand through her hair and left the dining room to get a change of clothes, makeup, a hairdryer and a towel. Taking a much-needed shower, she washed away the dirt and grim of being drunk before drying off and getting changed. She dried her hair, ignoring the knocks on the door coming from Gavin.

"Open up, I need to piss!"

"Calm down, I'm about to brush my teeth!" She shouted back.

"Let me piss first and then you can brush your fuckin' teeth!"

"Fine!" She finished drying her hair, leaving it down as she left the room. Gavin entered as she left, closing the door. Y/n took the time to pack her bag for work, making sure she had her money, her phone that she had to fight to get back, her charger, a book and her portable coffee cup. Gavin left after some time and walked into his bedroom, leaving the girl to finish off by brushing her teeth and do her makeup.

"Will you hurry up?"

"Give me a second!" He applied her mascara carefully before using some lip balm on her lips and throwing all of the makeup she used into her small makeup bag that she took to work, leaving the bathroom to put it in her bag. She quickly put some boots on before leaving with Gavin to the car.

"It's freezing out her, Priss, why didn't you bring a coat?"

"I don't own a coat."

"Do you not own a hoodie?"

"I don't know how much the Captain would like it if I wore a hoodie to work." Sighing, he walked to the boot of his car where he opened it to reveal a black jacket similar to the one he wore, "Wait, is this-?"

"Yes, it is. Just grab it and wear it or we're gonna be late."

"Okay, okay!" She slung the jacket over her shoulders, smiling at how much it smelt like his cologne, "I can't believe you kept it!"

"I can't believe you got it for me."
