The trip to the hospital was relatively quick. All three of the detectives were still shaken up by the man who yelled various threats before he left. The thought of the interrogation still loomed over their heads but the thing of utmost importance was making sure that the woman was okay.

"Well, the good news is that it's a small gash in the back of your head that should heal over the next week or two, Miss L/n. I'll prescribe you some painkillers and you should be good to go."

After picking up her prescription, Nines drove them back to the precinct. Gavin sat in the passenger seat, tapping her fingers against the dashboard as he looked at all of the traffic around them to try and settle his nerves. Out of the corner of his eye, he recognised the slight yellow flicker in Nines' LED before it returned to blue.

"The interrogation room is ready for us."

"Fucking great..." Gavin mumbled, rubbing the bridge of his nose before he turned his head to look at Y/n who was sitting in the back seat behind Nines, staring out the window at the traffic around them. "N/n? Ya get all that?"

"Hm?" She turned to look at him, raising a brow, "Sorry, I was zoned out. What's going on?"

"We have to do that interrogation. You gonna be okay for it?"

"Of course. This was our case - I'm more than prepared to take whatever he has to dish out to us."

Once parked, the three walked through the cold into the precinct. Making their way to the interrogation room, Y/n was met by a tackle of a hug. "Hank, calm down!"

"I heard what you did, Y/n. That was stupid and fucking reckless - you coulda been killed!"

"I'm sorry, Uncle Hank-"

"But I'm proud of you. You caught a really fucking shitty guy. Connor and I are gonna sit in for the interrogation to make sure nothing goes tits up."

She smiled, hugging him tighter, "Thank you, Hank."

"Hey, where's my fuckin' hug, Hank? I caught the fucking guy." Gavin complained jokingly, smiling as Hank let go of his niece to give him a warm hug and a pat on the back before he whispered lowly into Gavin's ear.

"You put my niece in danger like that again and you're fucking dead, Reed."

"Yes, sir."

All 5 entered the room behind the one-way glass, Hank rubbing his niece's back in a comforting manner. "So," Gavin starts, "Are you two okay with me interrogating this guy?"

"I have no objections," Nines stated, everyone now looking at Y/n.

"Please do, Gavin. I can't stand trying to face him." Giving her a small smile, he leaves the room whilst Y/n takes a seat behind the glass.

Entering the room, Tommy looks up at him with a sick grin on his face, "Well, well, well, if it isn't her saviour. How does it feel to finally get to fuck her again after all these years?"

"Cut the crap, Tommy. Why'd you target all those women?"

"You already know why, Mr Popular. You know the relationship you had with all of those innocent women."

"Give me the fucking reason, Tommy."

"Because you ruined my fucking life. You knew that I loved her. I bet she doesn't know why I tried to fucking cut your nose off that night." Y/n raised her eyebrow, looking at the fear that ran through Gavin's eyes.

"That was nearly two decades ago."

"And the scar still hasn't faded. Go on, why did I leave that pretty little scar? Tell her, Gavin."

He was quiet for a moment, quickly glancing at the glass before looking back at Tommy with a smirk, "Because I said 'at least I could make her cum'."

Y/n went bright red, avoiding eye contact with her uncle who burst into laughter, Connor raised an eyebrow at the Lieutenant while Nines had a small smile on his face.

"You just loved letting me know how much happier Y/n was with you. Then when I found out she left you cause you loved her I tried to be her shoulder to cry on. She ghosted me and I didn't hear from her for 18 years. Then, I see her getting into your car at the precinct and realised you two were working together again. I see her picking you up from outside of Jimmy's Bar after I got your address from you. I sent the FBI to your house in the hopes that she'd be destroyed but, alas, nothing. So, I had to send a strong message. A message that I knew you'd see. A message that I knew you would figure out."

"So, what you're trying to say is that this was all because you wanted to get back at me?"

"Ever since you started pissing me off and rubbing it in my face that there was a chance that she could love you I wanted to make you fucking miserable. Everybody knew that deep down you were a fucking sucker. Everybody knew that she was your weakness.

"I've heard everything I need to hear." Smiling at Tommy, he spoke once more, "I'll go and make her cum so hard that she forgets you even existed."

He smiled proudly as he left the room listening to Tommy yell at him whilst three officers escorted him out of the room. Entering the watching room, Y/n was quick to wrap her arms around his neck and lock their lips. Holding her waist, he kissed the lips he had been waiting to kiss for so long. Once she pulled away, he looked down at her smile, "That's for doing all of this."

However, he was quickly snapped out of his thoughts when he felt a harsh slap hit his cheek, "OW, WHAT THE FUCK?"

"That's for telling him that 18 years ago." Another slap against the other cheek, "And that's for what you said before you left."

"Okay, okay fine, I guess I deserved those."

The drive home was filled with laughs and smiles, just like when they had first moved in together. It was only when they got into the house that Gavin had Y/n against the door kissing her. He smiled into the kiss they shared, her lips soft and warm. "I've waited for so long to ask this,"

"What?"

"Y/n, would you be my girlfriend?"

"Yes, Gavin. And I won't run away this time."
