"He brought this girl over, yesterday. She was twirling her hair, and acting flirty. Her low cut top didn't even help. Who wears a low cut top in December? Does she not see all the snow outside?!" Mali rambles. Her face is red, and she seems to be so annoyed by the girl Calum has been hanging out with. She's been talking to me about how annoying she thought the girl looked because she was basically perfect. "She tried to look innocent. But I can see right through it all. She's up to no good, Michael. You need to get him back and tell him to snap out of it. The girl's always chewing gum and she smells like she just sprayed herself with her entire bottle of perfume. I bet you anything she smokes,"

Mali and I have been spending more time together. The break has made us become better friends, even if there was a five year difference between the two of us. She made me happy seeing that all my friends don't spend their breaks in Sydney. Luke was out of the country with his family. Ashton was on a road trip with his. Calum still doesn't speak to me. Mum and dad are at work to make a living and to keep a roof over our head. The house seemed so massive when it was just me in it, and slightly lonely, but I wouldn't admit that to them. They think I don't mind being alone, which is why they let me be alone.

Mali and I were sitting in her room. She was rambling while I was painting my nails. Mali showed me how to do it earlier. I wasn't focusing too much on what she was talking about because every time she mentions the girl, I can feel my heart hurting. I wanted to make the feeling go away because I should not be feeling like that, but I do.

The girl keeps rambling until she realises that I'm no longer listening. She smacks my arm lightly, bringing my attention back to her. "Hello," she said, dragging the 'o'. "Are you even listening to me?"

"Yeah," I semi-lied. "The girl came over, smells like smoke, should get Calum back." I summarised what I could remember.

"You know what, I don't even see why he hangs out with her. He doesn't even like girls," she blurted.

I choked on my own spit when she said that causing me to have a small coughing fit; Mali lightly hit my back. "H-he doesn't?" I stuttered out.

"Dude, he hasn't liked girls since forever ago. He used to google 'why am I having feelings for my guy friend when I am a guy," at the age of 11," she said in a 'duh tone.'

"Oh," I said. My heart was pounding and I felt like screaming and jumping with joy because Calum Hood does not like girls.

"Yeah, which is why you should talk to him."

"Why? It's not like he likes me," I asked. Mali sighed and shook her head.

"Such a young naive boy," she said. Before I could say anything, Mali got up, and started heading towards the door. "C'mon," she jerked her head towards the direction of the door, gesturing for me to go up with her. "We're getting Maccas."

* * *

Mali dropped me off at my house at about five o'clock. After getting lunch at Maccas, we drove around downtown a little bit. She was looking for some clothes from some vintage store that had a bunch of cute skirts. Had I known we were going there, I would have brought more money to buy a thing or two for myself too. Mali did offer to buy me something, though I declined, not wanting to be a burden.

It's now six and I'm sitting on my bed alone. As much as I enjoyed being out and having company, I enjoyed being alone much more. I felt more comfortable with myself, and I didn't want to become dependant on anyone. I didn't want to feel like I needed people to make me happy. I wanted to be able to make myself happy because in the end, most people leave. Or at least that's what happens in the never ending amount of books I read.

The sound of my doorbell going off startled me a little. Whoever was at the door repeatedly rang the bell, annoying me a little. I didn't really expect anyone to come over during the day.

I got off my bed, going downstairs to see who inconsiderately rang the door bell, repeatedly. I unlocked the door, opening it slightly, peeking out of it. My eyes widened at the sight of the brunet in front of me. He looked impatient, annoyed.

"Hi?" I said but it came out more of a question. After ignoring me for I'm not sure how long, he decided to show up.

"Hi," he said breathlessly.

"I.. uh, do you want to come in?" I ask, trying to find the words to say. I was mentally killing myself because of how awkward I had become. It was never this hard to speak to Calum, so I didn't see why it was so difficult for me to do so now. He nods his head and enters my house. He looks around, almost as if he hasn't been here before. "Do you want anything to drink?" I offer. He shakes his head and looks me in the eye.

"I'm sorry," he said.

"For?" I asked.

"Ignoring you. I shouldn't have. You're my best friend, and I shouldn't have ignored you. I thought that since you're dating Luke now, you'd ignore me and he'd take my place. I've heard that you were trying to talk to me, but I just never showed up, I'm sorry for that too," Calum rambled. He kept going, kept apologising. I didn't know if I liked him apologising to me or not. I liked the fact he did come back, although I didn't like the thought of him thinking he wasn't good enough.

"Stop!" I squealed. "It's fine, Cal. I forgive you." I wrapped my arms around his neck, he tensed but relaxed under my touch. He wrapped his arms around my waist and nuzzled his head in the crook of my neck. "You'll always be my besets friend," I said, smiling, remembering the past. I feel him chuckle, his warm breath hitting my neck.

"You're a dork," he said jokingly. I smiled.

"I know. You've been hanging out with someone, Nicole, I think?" I changed the subject.

He sighed and nodded his head. "Yeah, she's my friend."

I felt a little sad because it took half a year for Calum to call Ashton and Luke our friends but it took a month or so to call his girl his friend.
