It was lunch time which I longed for since classes we getting on my nerves when people see a new face it's all a staring contest the first few days. Opening my locker to get out the leftovers from the night before Dustin came running over.

"Henderson, Bonjour." I handed over the other lunch mum packed for him and he stared at it. "My mum wanted you to eat something nice for the first day. Take it." He grinned grabbing the bag from me.

"Not why I'm here. I thought you said to lay low?" I shrugged shutting my locker.

"Yeah, don't become a target." He nodded the nodded behind me.

"Then why do all the jocks want to kill you?" Stopping for a moment to look at Jackson and his gang glaring at me before walking into the cafeteria.

"I retaliated to bullying, a big no for you because it makes things worse but I can defend myself." Dustin arched an eyebrow at me while I started walking off.

"What does that mean?" Waving goodbye going not to the cafeteria but outside to the cold fresh air I went to a quiet corner to eat with my coat which I put on my legs to keep them warm. Playing music and sketching for the remainder of the break no one came outside to my pleasure.

Math and chemistry were boring as normal but the standards here weren't as high as my previous school. Glad for that at least.

Everything was fine other than the constant stare from the doe-eyed man with the long curly hair. He's attractive that's for sure but can't get attached, after the school year is over it's back to LA but further from the polluted air. I got big dreams, nothing will get me there from this town. Dustin said he wouldn't need me to drop him home since he would be with his friends after school. So when after finishing class and getting numerous amounts of homework I left school quick as daylight.

Which became a routine for a solid three weeks. Sticking to myself other than Dustin who would talk to me on occasion along with saying hi to Mike that was always with him. The only other person that was ever close to talking to me was a Doe-eyed boy who didn't actually look like a high schooler. He would walk up and get so close to saying something before he walked off.
Which changed one day after Mrs Walker gave me a long chat after class about how well I was doing with my essays on 1984 and how she looked forward to my look on the great gatsby.

The halls were empty other than students heading to their after school clubs, some I was a part of in my old school, Darma I wrote scripts and photography. But here I just wanted to get the year over with. Grabbing what I needed from my locker I heard footsteps. Ignoring them leaning into the locker more to grab my keys I heard a voice.

"I uh hey." bending back to see the doe-eyed boy he smiled shyly at me.

"Hi, you're in my English class right?" He quickly nodded and I looked away for a moment for my satchel to put it over my shoulder.

"And your gym class and French also history and math." I knotted my eyebrows together.

"That's all my classes, huh I need to pay more attention." He chuckled and when snatching the last book I turned fully to him. "So was there a reason you clarified this to me...." He froze for a second before his eyes went wide.

"Oh Eddie, Eddie Munson." We shook hands and shutting the locker behind me I started to walk with him following me. "I just wanted to uh tell you that uh... Shit. You're kinda awesome." I frowned confused about what he was saying.

"Yeah, I hear that a lot from my cousin but why are you saying it?" Eddie rubbed the back of his neck.

"The first day of school you stood up to Jackson off all people and he backed right up. You scared him, not many people can do that." I rolled my eyes smiling at him.

"He was being a grade-A asshole what was I meant to do bend over." He licked his lips not talking for a moment until I clicked my fingers in front of his face. "And that was it? A compliment?" He shrugged grinning at me and kicking the air.

"I mean yeah, it's not often chicks around here have the whole package." I swung open the school doors spotting my car three rows into the car park.

"Package?"

"You know smart, good fashion sense and beautiful..." His sentence slowed down when I glanced at him. "Not to mention you're a badass." Laughing I crossed my arms stopping in front of my car.

"Alright I get it you're worshipping me the new goddess of Hawkins but I need you to calm down Munson I've got dinner to cook and homework to finish adios." He went to talk more but I swiftly went into my car and turned it on driving off. He looked annoyed at himself as I left, chuckling shaking my head I drowned the car with some music to stop my thought from wandering while driving.

The next day at lunch I went back outside as normal to a hidden spot I'd found when wandering around the school for somewhere quiet. Which it always was so doing the normal routine of sketching and eating it was normal until a shout of my name was called behind me.

"Eddie?" turning my head back towards the school Eddie came walking over.

"I've been looking everywhere for you. Damn it's cold out here. And I found you here, my secret spot." I frowned and shut my sketchbook before he could see.

"You're spot? I figured no one knew about this place." He hopped up on the bench smiling down at me taking a chip from the packet next to me.

"Only me, I've been here long enough to know all the best hiding places." I arched an eyebrow from him snatching my chip bag back.

"How old are you, like for real." He smirked leaning in.

"Almost twenty. But this year I'll be finishing." I gaped at him. It wasn't often I've met people who haven't been able to finish school multiple times.

"Right ok, so you were looking for me again why?" He shrugged taking the chip bag from me.

"To hang." Then he got out not a cigarette but something I knew was stronger.

"Please don't," I said and he halted when getting out his lighter.

"Oh, do you want one?" I shook my head taking the weed stick from his mouth.

"I have Asthma, bad Asthma and if I'm near smoke and especially this I could almost die so." I flicked it back at him and Eddie jolted.

"Sorry I totally wouldn't have if I'd known." He did look rather sorry but that didn't stop me from standing up. "Wait no don't go." I kept walking only to feel something hit my head. Snow? I frowned glaring at Eddie who covered his mouth from laughter.

"You fucking prick." Grabbing a handful myself I threw one at him myself which he tried ducking from but I still managed to hit him.

"Nice shot Lipton." He laughed going after me again. This all led to the pair of us laughing on the ground. "You should try harder in dodge ball you'd best all their asses." I laughed a little harder before a cough burned through me followed by a wheeze. Reaching for my inhaler it wasn't in my pocket. Looking around I froze not seeing it. "Hey Lipton, (y/n) are you alright?" His hand touched my bag as it got worse.

"Inhaler." I coughed out and he didn't know what that meant. Clearly.

"Do you need mouth to mouth?" I frowned at him tossing a handful of snow at his head.

"Asthma, dumbass." I horsed out and he stood looking around.

"Shit shit shit." It felt like blood was pooling in my mouth and all the air was sucked away as I heaved forward coughing again. "Here here I found it." He sprinted over handing it to me and I shook it quickly before pulling off the lid. Two puffs later I leaned back into the ground relaxing.

"Dumb ass." I breathed out again with a short chuckle remembering how he scampered around for something he didn't know.
