We Have A Purpose

Yawning I stretched awake and looked around my dusty dirty new home, I needed to find some time to clean. Grabbing a stralope from a blow I laid out yesterday I quickly got dressed and left my tree house. Walking down the stairs I walked into the Care house and saw Via and Milly caring for the Bunat and Bomoss's we put in small pens here, really just fenced in corners.

"Day four in Wolfeana and it feels like a home." I said, petting a Bunat in Via's arms. "Is James taking care of Wolfrons?"

"Yep." Milly said.

Walking out I finished the fruit and gave the insides to the first Wolfron which was Smoke. I was surprised to see that the gauze was off, I would have kept it on for 2 weeks at least. Going into the pen I looked over his body and saw he was all healed and looking much better and the scars were just small scars now.

"They are all feeling much better," Nadel said, standing at the pen's gate door. "They heal quite fast and all are well rested."

"What do you think we should do next?" I asked while I left the pen. "From a healer's perspective?"

"Get them exercise and build their strength back up." Nadel smiled. "I need to go, Jabnelsa is bringing back our healing supplies to help."

She walked off and I went over to Crystal. I had to say ever since I've met her I've grown quite attached, and she seems to like me a lot as well. Letting her out James came over and I saw he was carrying four saddles in his arms.

"Where did you get those saddles?" I asked.

"From the building we haven't cleaned yet." He said, "I'm gonna ride them for exercise. Don't think they would mind."

He set them down and walked into Ruby's pen only to be greeted by licks. Laughing I walked over to the saddles and looked at them. They were very nice leather and looked like modified horse saddles in some ways.

"Can I take one for Crystal?" I asked. "I want to take her out."

"Go ahead."

Smiling, I grabbed one and walked into Crystal's pen. Saddling her up I made sure to be careful of her wounds still. Pushing up my glasses I got on her back with ease and walked out of the pen and out from under the trees. I saw her soak in the sunlight and she spread out her wings. Crouching down I thought she was going to start running, but instead did a vertical take off.

I held onto her neck in hopes of having a good grip but I felt like I was about to slide off. She kept going higher and forward and I was struggling to get my feet in the foot holds, finally I did but I could still not steer her. Reacher up I slid my hands into the holes of her webbed antlers and angled her head down. I pressed my left leg into her side just a little and she went right. This was just like riding a horse but the antlers were the reins.

Smiling I started to feel my fear slip away, and I was calm for once from being so high up. Laughing Crystal did a loop then spun in a spiral going up. A feeling in me told me to let go of her, and for some reason I listened and did. Both of us fell free with our heads down ward. Looking at Crystal we both smiled and I saw her stick out her tongue. She turned her back toward me and I grabbed on again and pulled up before we hit a lake.

"That was amazing!" I smiled scratching behind her antler. "Think we should go back girl?"

She gave a growl like bark and we turned around and made our way back. As we did though I looked down after I heard a bear-like growl. We stopped midair and looked down to see more of those porcupine cats, Quillats I believe where they're species. They had taken down a large animal and were heading towards something that was under a log.
