Spirit Village

As we arrived at the village I saw so many creatures of all kinds mingling around. They were all humanoids of the animals from earth, squirrels, cats, dogs, horses, birds, reptiles, you name it. They all wore a shirt that seemed like they wrapped around and it connected with buttons, for both males and females. I could also see some wearing cloaks and some where not, so Liam and I will fit right in.

We entered what seemed to be the side of a market so it was quite busy. We started to walk down and I saw stalls for clothes, small trinkets, and different kinds of meat for food, but not a single stall for the fruits and veggies our group was eating.

Going down two stalls we came to an alley and continued walking until we came to an old broken shack. As we neared Jabnelsa walked in and Liam, Hondu, and I stood out front to keep watch. I could hear her inside grabbing things and I started to wonder how long we would be here. Sure this village looked pretty neat, but it also looked skittish and not that well taken care of.

After a minute of waiting a small lioness cub and a gorilla child ran over to this area as they kicked around a ball. The gorilla kicked it and it rolled and stopped at Hondu's feet. The two ran over and looked up at him and they started at aw.

"Hondu!" the gorilla smiled.

"You're back!" The lion hugged his legs. "Everyone said you went to help bring back the animals and save them!"

"Hondu do you know these kids?" I asked, looking at him.

Before he said anything two Quillats walked into the area and immediately scared the two kids away. They gave us one look and scoffed and continued walking, but something told me to follow.

"You guys stay here." I said, "I got a feeling about those two."

They nodded and I started to follow them. Turning down into an alley-like area they stopped and I quickly hid behind a wall so I could still hear them.

"You know when we're supposed to start the fire?" One asked.

"As soon as we see the five quill signal." Said the other. "And make sure no one gets out, we burn everyone as well."

I couldn't believe it! They wanted to burn down the village with everyone in it! Going back to the others I saw Jabnelsa come back out right as I arrived. She was carrying a few bags and on the top of her walking stick were some jars tied to it. So she got all her stuff.

"Miss Abby," She said, "You seemed worried. Is something wrong?"

"I followed some Quillats that seemed suspicious and I overheard them saying they were gonna burn the village down with everyone in it!" I said, "We either need to get everyone out in time or stop them."

"There wouldn't be time to evacuate," Hondu said, "I'll stay here and stop them with you. Liam take Jabnelsa back to camp."

Liam nodded and started to lead the badger healer out. Hondu and I shared a look and we nodded at each other. Taking the lead I retraced my steps and I saw the Quillats that I followed earlier. They were each holding a torch of fire and looking to the sky for their signal.

Hondu went in quickly and threw one to a wall. Going in after him I held my arms up blocking a hit and pushed him off. Doing a roundhouse kick he went flying to a wall and passed out. Gabbing the troches Hondu and I tied them up. We walked around the village and found two other small groups like that and took them out. Finishing tying up the last couple I saw smoke from the opposite edge of the village from the forest.

We shared a scared look and without thinking I whistled for Crystal. I heard her howl and a second later I saw her fly overhead and she landed in front of me. Reaching out for Hondu we grabbed each other's forearms and I helped him up. Clicking my tongue we flew in the sky and I looked down and was able to see the whole village. One side of the village was slowly burning and some creature was forced to do it.

They looked like elephants but we're all different shades of red and had two trunks and no tusks. The Quillats that were by them were feeding them what seemed to be lava rocks and poked them with a stick. When they were poked they shot lava out of their trunks. I was beyond angry with what I saw, they were abusing those poor innocent animals! Before I could go down and do something I heard some flapping behind us. Turning around I saw Liam came back with James, who was riding behind his brother, Via, and Milly. I smiled when I saw them.

"Via, Milly, get the locals away from the fire as fast as you can." I told them and they flew down. "Liam, James, you are with me to fight and free the Kovarks."

"How do you know what they're called?" James asked, adjusting his glasses.

"Gut feeling." I replied shrugging.

We flew down and landed in front of the line of animals while the Quillats where feeding them more. Taking the sword out of my cloak and pulling down the hood I caught eyes with the leader of this operation.

"You will not harm this village and will no longer hunt the animals of this land!" I yelled, pointing my sword at him.

"Get them!" Yelled the on in the lead.

Turning quickly to my left dodging an attack I quickly turned back around and punched the back of his head and he was out. Smirking, I took my sword and blocked an attack from one that was coming from my left. As I was holding his sword up I took my knee and brought it up hard against his baby makers.

Some started to surround me and I felt my back hit someone else's. Looking behind me I smiled as I saw it was Hondu. He locked his arms with mine and bent over so I was in the air. I understood what he was doing. He spun around and I kicked all the Quillats that were around us. When he let me down I looked around and saw they were all down and my cousins finished the ones they were fighting.

James and I walked up to the animals and I went up to the one with the most scars. Petting his trunk I pressed my forehead against his trunk and I felt him calm down. Going to the chains James and I broke them all with our swords and they were soon free.

As I turned around to look at my group I saw the whole village was looking at us. Hondu and my cousins turned around and saw and walked over to James, the Kovarks, and I. Sharing a look with all my cousins we stepped forward.

"We mean no harm." I said out loud. "We are only here to help fix your land and restore it to the way it should be. We are taking in your native animals and are healing them and growing their population. We are fighting the poachers here so you have peace and not chaos."

"How do we know you're telling the truth?" Yelled an alligator man.

"Abby I feel like we need to get into a circle and touch the ground." Liam said.

Liam stayed at my right as Via stayed at my left, Milly stood next to her sister and James went in between Milly and Liam. We all closed our eyes and bent down to the ground. A feeling came over me and I felt my hand move and draw something in the dirt. Something came over me and I had no idea what I was doing. Pressing my hand onto the shape that I drew I felt grass quickly grow underneath us. Opening my eyes I saw all my cousins did as well and we stood up.

When we did we saw a drastic change in the environment around us. The trees looked more alive and the leaves were more bright in color, rather than dead and sickly looking when we first came here. Instead of walking around dirt, grass was all around and flowers sprouted up from the ground. Did my cousins and I do this? I had to say something though.

"This is what you gain while we protect you and your land." I turned back to the natives, as they all looked shocked. "You will gain bright colors, healthy land, and new fruit." I picked a Heart Throb berry from a bush and handed it to a small child. "Let us protect you and your home."
