"Did you hear?"
"Haruto and Juna are getting engaged."
"Wait, wasn't that just a rumor?"
"I thought they broke up."
"They got back together, apparently."
Ruwon walked quietly with her friends, ignoring the chatter around her. Whispers followed them down the hallway, classmates gathering around Woojae and Banwok, repeating the same question over and over.
At the back of the group, Ruwon kept her head low. Her eyes were still swollen from crying the night before.
She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, only to be startled when Jeongwoo gently pulled her close, shielding her from a group of students who nearly bumped into her.
"Are you okay?"
he asked softly.
She gave a small nod, quickening her pace.
Up ahead, Dareum scowled as Juna arrived at the classroom, boldly flaunting the hickey on her collarbone without even trying to cover it.
"Why does she look so proud of it?"
Dareum muttered.
"She's insane," Jaejin added, shaking her head.
Juna met Ruwon's gaze with a smug smile, waved mockingly, then brushed past her deliberately bumping her shoulder.
Then came Haruto.
"Is it true?"
Woojae asked the moment Haruto approached.
"Are you really getting engaged? Did you want this?"
Haruto glanced at Ruwon, who didn't look up from her phone as she quietly spoke to Jeongwoo.
"Yes," he answered.
"It's true."
"Congrats, I guess,"
Jaejin said half-heartedly.
They moved on to talk about the tournament.
The girls' team didn't even make it to the top five.
Then, all their phones buzzed.
"Watanabe Haruto, Park Jeongwoo, Kang Juna, and Yang Ruwon. Come to the club now." — from Seha.
Ruwon sighed.
"What should I say to her...?"
Jeongwoo gave her a reassuring pat on the head.
"Don't worry. I'll be with you."
Jeongwoo looked at Haruto.
"We'll go first. See you later."
Haruto silently followed them.

Inside the club room...
"A month of practice down the drain."
Seha's voice boomed. Her frustration was clear.
"Do you think this is a joke?" she snapped, glaring at the four of them.
She scolded Haruto and Jeongwoo relentlessly, calling them disappointments. Her eyes then shifted to Ruwon.
"Why did you follow him out and never come back? Why did you humiliate me like this in front of everyone?"
She walked up to Ruwon, lifting her chin.
"Why are your eyes swollen?"
Yedam quickly intervened, brushing Seha's hand away.
"She looks sick. Are you okay?"
