{7}- Thief Skills | Cabbage Harvest

I deeply apologize for being late on the update. 

Last week of school is when your procrastinating teachers decide to cram all the last projects, so bear with me, but we'll get to that point where we might get 4 chapters per week.

"So, Kazuma, you mind explaining the weirdo lady you brought along with you?"

Aqua, Megumin, and I were eating breakfast the next day when a blonde-haired lady I recognized as Darkness came in with Kazuma. Aqua and Megumin gave Kazuma a weird look as Darkness began to describe her forbidden fetishes... or that's what I expected what would've happened.

Instead, Kazuma seemed to have Darkness 'under control' for the time being, and she acted pretty normal.

"So can I join your party-" Darkness began, but Kazuma immediately interjected.

"We're not going to accept her, right, Y/N?" Kazuma flashed me a look then another one at Darkness, who was panting heavily after Kazuma's harsh rejection.

Sighing, I explained to the others that Crusaders are especially important for a party, and Darkness's high resilience and her high defense stats are what exactly we need in our party. As stated before, our party lacks a tank who can absorb all the damage, and although Darkness's accuracy is the absolute in the world that she can't even cut a tree, her shielding abilities are unique.

"So, uh... I see all have something to contribute to the party then!" Aqua noted. "I can provide healing and buffs, Megumin is a one-shot final blow dealer, Darkness is a shield, Y/N's good at quick attacks, and Kazuma... what are you good at, you Hiki-NEET?"

Don't slander Kazuma, Aqua. He can still beat you in a one-on-one fight, you know.

"I could lead all of us! And come up with many tactics, you know? But speaking of what I need to do, maybe I should get a skill..." Kazuma took out his adventuring card, and tapped on it as it showed what skills he could get.

"Oh, Ooooo!" Megumin's eyes lit up as she saw the Detonation series pop up on Kazuma's adventurer card. "Kazuma, Kazuma! Walk the path of explosions with me!"

"Hell no. It costs 25 skill points! How expensive is that? First of all, I will never have enough points for it, secondly, you're already a mage, and third of all, it's just not worth it."

"Y/N! Y/N! Can you please join me then?"

"Uh, Megumin, what Kazuma said makes a lot of sense, you know? It's really not worth it. However, we could make your Explosion stronger. That is an option..."

"I really need some better skills..." Kazuma sighed. And miraculously, (probably due to our luck) our savior regarding this aspect marched in and spotted Darkness, who was beginning to bug Kazuma on joining the party again.

"Darkness, don't be so pushy. You're never going to get in at this rate." The white-haired thief said to Darkness before flashing me a bright smile, to which I returned.

"Um, Miss, who are you?" Kazuma asked her, who pondered for just a moment before giving her introduction.

"My name is Chris, I'm a Thief, as you can see. I guess you can consider me Darkness's friend." Chris then leaned closer to us. "By the way, I overheard that you wished to learn some skills, right? So how about a thief skill? I bet it'll definitely come in handy on your adventures."

Kazuma's eyes immediately lit up at her proposal, since she seemed way more capable than any of our current party members. It's no joke though, Chris is a highly professional thief hired by many high-class people, but it's a shame she never takes requests to join someone's party, at least not permanently.
