"Get up, big head!" I shout.

I've been up for about two hours now, waiting for Officer Johnson to open the cell, but Aiden's been sleeping like he hasn't slept a day in his life. I straddle him and bend down, releasing a huge burp in his ear.

"What the hell! Rae?!" He quickly gets up, making me fall on my behind.

"Had to find a way to wake you up. Officer Johnson opened the cell hours ago. So, can we go?"

Instead of replying, he just looks at me like I have ten snakes on my head. I touch my cheek and look down.

"What? Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Ha. Your hair."

I touch the ends of my newly blonde hair.

"Uh yeah. Looks weird on me. "

"You're gorgeous." He chuckles.

I turn red then smirk.

"Shut up. Come on, our planes leaving soon."

We walk in on Officer Johnson drinking his coffee and rubbing his oversized belly.

"Oh, hey you two. You guys ready?" He asks.

"Yes, sir. Just one question, where do we go when we get there?"

"Simple. There's a safe house on a beach far from anyone's view. When you get off the plane, one of our best bodyguards will drive you there and I guess you'll just settle in till everything's safe enough here."

I nod. "Ok. But can I please make one phone call?"

"Sure. Take a left, go all the way down."

"Thanks."

I breathe deeply as I pick up the phone and dial. My heart rate rises at every ring.

"Hello?"

"Hello"

"Who's this?"

I breathe deeply again."This is Media Enterprises. We just wanted to make you an offer for a prize of five hundred dollars. "

"I don't have time for this. I'm busy."

"It's real quick ma'am. First I need to know if you have any family member living or that was formerly living in the house."

"No."

"Never?"

"No." She answers with the same response and the same nonchalant tone.

"Oh. Okay, I'm sorry to disturb you ma'am." I quickly hang up the phone. I shut my eyes, hoping the tears would stay back. I know she was hired to watch me. I know that she was a bitch most of the time, but I also know that she was the closest thing I knew to family and a mom. Why did my dad leave such a hateful person to watch over me?

"Hey. You okay?"

I open my eyes to see the lady from the front desk. I place a fake smile on my face and nod.

"Yes. I'm good."

She smiles. "I know that look anywhere, Darling. I've had that look half of my life. Come here."

She offers me her hand and when I take it, she quickly engulfs me in a motherly embrace, placing a kiss on my head. She pulls apart and places my head in between her hands.

"Everything will be okay, sweetie. Just make sure you keep with that boy right there and pray. Everything has its reasons."

I nod. "Yes, ma'am. Thank you."
