Rae Immediately lets go of her grip on my hand.

"What? What do you mean you don't know?"

I give her a sympathetic look and shake my head.

"I  just don't know, okay? This is a fucking desert, Rae. Not some damn school hallway." I draw myself back and rub my hands on my face.

Her eyes slowly stray to the ground and I see her lips turn downward a little. Damn I am such an ass. I stroke her soft, now wet cheek and make her look up at me once again.

"Hey, I'm sorry. Don't worry we'll get out of here."

"Yeah, I know. I'm sorry too...Dude." She softly punches my arm.

"You did not just friend zone me."

"And If I did?" She playfully sticks her tongue out at me.

This is what her and I really needed, a light moment. Sadly, it ends when we both hear an engine coming our way. I tug on Rae's arm and we start running as fast as we could in what I think was the direction I came from.

"Hey! Rae! Why you running baby, we just want to have some fun." I glance back to see my dad's car not too far behind us. I could tell Rae was running with all the strength in her now fragile body, but if she didn't pick up the pace she would definitely get caught. We both would.

"Hurry up and get on."

She looks at me with a dumbfounded look and shakes her head roughly.

"No! Are you mad? I'm just going to slow you down if I get on your back."

"Just fucking do it, Rae!"

She doesn't argue after that, she hops on and I run off. I run until the oxygen I had was becoming shallow. Thankfully, I couldn't hear the car engine anymore. They probably killed all their gas. But there was another problem. It was dark. I carefully let Rae off my back.

"What do we do now?" She asks rubbing her bare arms.

I throw my jacket around her. I don't answer her right away because something catches my sight.

"Do you see that?" I ask. I point in front of me. "It looks like some kind of motorcycle? Hey! Over here! Help!" I start flinging my arms in the air.

We both start screaming for the person to come our way, and stop when they finally halt in front of us, blowing sand into our faces.

"Holy shit. You really stopped. Thanks! Look me and my friend-"

"Boyfriend." I correct with a proud smile plastered on my face.

"Boyfriend, are in some serious shit. Some psychos are trying to kill us. Could you please take us to a police station?"

It's quiet for a moment.

"No."

Our supposed rescuer lifts off the helmet they are wearing.

Ariel.

"Yeah, Uncle Leotold me that you and Aiden escaped so he told me to come find you. Wasn't that hard since you guys basically begged for me to come your way, right? I was going to help you. I even left you clues and shit. " She looks directly at me.

"What? That was you?"

"Yes! It was me, idiot. I thought maybe If I did something nice for you, and you finally found her you would be at peace. But now you're calling her your girlfriend. This is how you dump me?"

A couple tears fall from her eyes and she quickly wipes them away.

"When my mom died I only had Bailey and my dad. Sadly, my dad considered me not only his daughter but his helper in killing people and his fuck buddy. Now the only two people I had left are dead. If I don't do what Leo wants, I die. You're all I have in this whole fucked up world." She chokes.

"I'm sorry, April. I'm sorry for everything that's happened to you. I truly am. But I love Raven. So we won't go anywhere with you." I bite down.

With the tears now gone and an angry look on her face, she gets off the bike and waltz my way. I couldn't look at her, I couldn't even stand the smell of her anymore.

".You owe me you know, I mean...since you killed my dad and all."

"I'm sorry." I say.

"Is it me or is it her, Aiden?"

I look to my back to see Raven staring between me and Ariel. She gives me a small smile.

"It'll always be Raven." I exhale. It'll always be her.

Ariel nods acceptingly. Her bony fingers then find their way onto my cheek, then she scratches it with her claws.

"Fine. Get the fuck on the bike, both of you! Or I'm fucking leaving you here to fend for yourselves. Your choice." She walks back to her bike and gets on. I look at Rae while I still hold onto my cheek and she gives me a nod.

"We have no choice." She shrugs.

She's the first to hop on the bike, nervously wrapping her arms around Ariel's waist.

"You're next, Aiden." She smirks. My eyes stay on her the whole time. I hop on behind Rae, wrapping my arms on her waist, not to protect me but to protect her. Something suddenly stands up. Rae turns around to face me with her face red.

"Sorry." I mouth. My luck.

Soon we were out of the desert. I don't know how we but we did. We were at a traffic light when I tapped Rae.

"We have to jump." I mouth again. She turns around, then turns to face me. Her eyebrows crease in, but she nods.

"I hope you guys aren't planning anything stupid back there."

"Only to kill you, bitch." Rae says nonchalantly.

That's my girl. I realize that this is the distraction we need, so I tighten my arms around Rae and I throw her off along with myself. Luckily there's no cars on the road, so we just start running away from a screaming Ariel.

"I was actually trying to help you! Idiots!"

Along the way I see a police station and I grab Rae. We dash ourselves inside and waste no time talking to the lady at the front desk. We see a door that says Officer Johnson and throw open the door. An African American man with gray hair forming on his head and chin looks up from his paperwork. He starts to say something but I immediately stop him.

"Sir, my name is Aiden Mathews and this is Rae McKinley. I'm sorry sir, but she has been kidnapped for more than a month. The last police officer I went to was her long lost father who turns out to be her uncle who happens to be the twin of her father who is now deceased. Who also happened to be her main kidnapper. I accidentally ran over my ex-girlfriends dad who happened to be second in command of her kidnapping or third...I'm not really sure yet, and then I find out my dad is also involved. So please, we don't have much time before they come looking for us.I just need to know if I can trust you. Because we don't know anywhere else to go."

Officer Johnson slowly gets up from his chair and limps towards us. He smiles, showing his bright teeth.

"Kids, this sounds better than my wife's constant nagging. Sit down, and start from the beginning."
