THIS IS JUST A CHAPTER SO YOU GUYS CAN KNOW ABOUT HER EYE A LITTLE AND THE ACCIDENT, YOU CAN SKIP TO THE NEXT CHAPTER IF YOU WANT TO [:
Saturday was my appointment with my eye doctor. I've been abiding in the waiting room for over an hour now and I'm starting to grow a little anxious. What if my eye isn't getting any better? What if the blindness is getting worse? It doesn't feel like it's getting worse though, actually, It feels like my vision is gradually improving. I purse my lips and take out my cell phone to play Candy Crush but I'm interrupted when I receive a new text message from Aiden.
Aiden: Hey Tweety Bird.(:
My heart flutters. I slap myself silly, cursing myself for acting like such a girly girl. I obtain curious looks and cast back a tender grin. I turn back to my phone and type faster than the speed of light. I spend the next 30 minutes talking to Aiden about England and his mother. The whole time our conversation is progressing a smile is plastered on my face.
"Miss McKinley."
"Miss McKinley."
"Miss McKinley!"
My head shoots up as I realize my name is being called. I jump out of my seat and rush over to the receptionist.
"Yes, Ma'am? I apologize."
"It's ok, sweetie. The doctor is ready for you now, just go through that door and it'll be the first door on your right." She nods and gives me a curt smile then turns back to whatever she was doing on the computer.
I go by her directions and arrive in room A12. I sit down on the patient bed and wait for a while before I hear a knock at the door.
A man with dirty blonde hair, brown eyes and few pimples here and there pokes his head in then walks in fully with a serious face.
"Hello. You must be Miss McKinley. I'm Dr. Stewart."
He sits in the doctor chair and glides to a table full of equipment. He turns his back to me and starts to fiddle with some things.
"So, how is the eye feeling Miss McKinley."
I fidget, "Um, It's good I guess. I can actually see better through it. Is it possible? For it to get better?"
He stays still for a few seconds before returning to fiddling with something. "It's possible. Uncommon, but possible."
He turns around and glides towards me.
"Now, tilt your head back so I can pour these drops in your eye. They'll numb it and make it possible for me to see clearly behind your iris." I nod and nervously tilt my head back.
"Open wide."
I slam my eyes shut once the drop reaches its destination. Fuck.
It takes about 45 minutes for him to finish checking my eye and he confirms my assumption. My eye is getting better, but he says not to get too excited, anything can happen. I hop off the patient table and leave, glowing like a five year old with a new toy.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I clutch onto the back seat as Bobby, Mom's new boyfriend of the month, drives a hundred miles per hour.
"Bobby! Slow down! Please!"
He takes a swig of his bear. "We're just getting started baby! Woo!" He presses his foot harder on the accelerator.
"Bobby!!"
He continues to ignore me as speeds up. My closed eyes open to see a tree coming up in front of us.
"Bobby, Look o-." Its too late.
My eyes flutter open to see the car has flipped over and I'm stuck. I can't see clearly, but I can make out Bobby's lifeless body positioned in an abnormal way.
"Someone...help." I start shaking and crying uncontrollably until I finally black out.
I wake up to the sound of monitors beeping and voices everywhere. I feel aching pain all over my body. When I reach to itch my arm I grimace from the pain. Bandages cover my legs and arms and a huge gash on the side of my stomach. As I try to sit up, a man in a white long coat walks in.
"Hello, Rae. I see you're awake. I can't stay long because they're bringing your food. I want you to eat and rest up, alright?"
I look at him confused.
"Is my Mom here? What happened to Bobby? Wait...Why cant I see out of this eye?" I point my right index finger to my right eye.
With a grim look on his face he bows his head and dolefully shakes it.
"What! What's the matter?" I nervously ask.
"Rae... You were badly hit in your eye, we don't know what collided with it but it really had an impact. You're partially blind in that eye, It could get worse over time but all we can do Is pray. I'm sorry." He gives me a last sympathetic look before he retreats out of the room.
I hyperventilate. Partially blind? No. No. No. No. I refuse to believe that. Something is just stuck in there and they'll get it out. Or this is all just a bad dream. Yeah. I lay my head back down on the some what comfortable pillow and close my eyes, drifting off into a deep, much needed sleep.
I later find out that Bobby was actually dead. Cause? Not wearing his seat belt. I was told an elderly woman found me on the road when she was on her early morning jog. She was the only person to visit me while I was in the hospital. She was my temporary family.
