-----------------------

Jason had left me on the floor of the basement in complete agony. My insides, my outside... everything was in complete destruction. It felt like all my purity and everything I was saving for that special someone was taken by force. Drenched in blood, I drag myself off the grimy floor, and groan in pain and take myself to the bathroom to wash up. I look at myself in the mirror, I mean really look at myself, for the first time and I'm scared of what I see. I would take going back to school to see Ariel any day than spend another minute down in this God forsaken basement. Fuck it. Out of anger, I slam my fist against the mirror, breaking it into tiny pieces. It scatters into the sink and on to the floor, and I grimace in pain.

With fury engrossed on my face, I grab a piece of glass from the sink and stomp my way out. I slowly climb up the stairs and pull at the handle of the door. Locked. I start pounding.

"You. Fucking. Bastard!"

I keep pounding and screaming waiting for him to open the door so I can run my way past him. I stop pounding so I could catch my breath but he never comes. I slide down the peeling wall, pulling my knees up to my chest. Then I hear something, it was the tiniest noise, but It was audible. I slowly crawl my way off the floor, clutching at the wall. I press my ear against the door.

"Yeah, yeah. I understand... Fuck you. I don't know what I'm going to do with her, ok? I guess that's what we're going to have to do...Alright man I'll see you later. Alright...bye."

I draw my face away from the door. He wants to take me somewhere else maybe? Or worse...Kill me. I have to do something now or I'll never get back home. The door knob starts to wiggle, and I can hear a set of keys jiggling inside of the key hole. I dart down the flight of stairs and hide underneath it, glass in hand. I hear the door burst open and Jason's heavy steps approach. My breathing grows strenuous, so I plant my  palm over my mouth. I make my way backwards deeper into the dark.

"Rae...you ready fo-" I can hear him stop walking.

"Rae?"

"Raven!"

I see him run to the bathroom.  He then runs back into the main room and runs his hand through his greasy hair.

"Shit!" He kicks the table and runs back up the flight of stairs. I wait a moment, hand still over my mouth, to make sure he is really gone. I creep out of the dark spot underneath the staircase, examining every corner. Then I run back up the stairs and slowly pull at the door handle. Unlocked.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Where could Rae be? I'm gone for a month and the girl disappears? Impossible. Something has to be seriously wrong somewhere. I snap back to reality as I hear honking behind me.

"Come on! Move it Kid!"

I sigh and press on the accelerator. I see Evergreen high just in front of me. I didn't even want to think about coming to school today, my mind would just not be in it. But my dad literally dragged me out of bed, into the bathroom, into the kitchen, and out the door. I park the car and make my way towards class.

" Aiden! Baby!"

Crap.

I turn around and see Ariel in her tight cheerleading outfit, her hair in a bun, and makeup plastered on her face. I force a smile on my face.

" Hey...Ariel."

She shrieks and stands on her tip-toes to give me an off-guard smack on the lips.

"I've missed you so much baby. You would never believe the week I've had. Did you have fun on your trip?"

"Um...yeah. Hey, Ariel, have you seen Rae anywhere?"

She looks at me with a grim look and throws her hands on her small hips.

"No...the freak hasn't been to school in a while. Why?"

Shit. I rub the back of my neck.

"Nothing. Look the bells about to ring. I've got to go." I peck her cheek and throw my hands in my jacket pocket.

I make my way to my locker and rub my hands over my face in frustration. When I begin to take my English books out, I see a tiny note slipped between a couple of textbooks. I stick my head out the locker and look in every direction to see if anyone was lolly-gagging around. But the hallway was completely deserted. I grab the note that reads,

"To Aiden,

I knew you would be looking for Raven by the time you got back. You need to hurry up and figure out where she is before anything else happens to her."

                                                                                     - The Joker.
