*Adira's nightmare*
Adira and Eddie were walking side by side, making their way to his van where they would meet Chrissy after. Adira had a dull ache in her legs as goosebumps encased her skin. The cool air ran its fingers through her hair and crashed her teeth together quickly, resulting in a dull pain in the sides of her jaw.
"You chilly?" Eddie asked her and she shook her head, she turned to look over at Eddie but stumbled back with a large gasp as she looked at the boy next to her, it wasn't Eddie. "C'mon sweet heart just take the jacket okay," the blonde haired boy told her with his signature grin as he removed his denium jacket from his shoulders
Adira didn't have control of her actions anymore as she reached out and took the jacket from the boy, "thanks," she muttered out to him as she pulled her arms through the sleeves and then pulled her hair out so it was no longer caught between the fabric of the jacket and her shirt
"No problem sweet heart," He told her with a wink, his muscles showing very easily now that he was wearing a tank top. Adira tried to avert her eyes from his arms, but obviously she stared a little too long as Billy smirked widely at her, "Like what you see princess?"
"You wish Hargrove," Adira muttered out, her cheeks were a deep crimson, which only seemed to make Billy smirk even wider
"You're pretty cute when you blush Harrington," Billy told her, grinning as he successfully made her cheeks turn even more red.
"Shut up," she groaned, a small chuckle falling from her lips, "when was the last time you said that to a girl huh? this morning?" she asked him and he only shook his head
"I wonder what Steve Harrington would have to say if he saw his little sister wearing my jacket," she boy said with a laugh. Adira breathed in through her nose, the light smell of cigarettes and men's cologne wafted through her nostrils.
She shivered slightly and wrapped her arms around her body to try and warm herself up even more, "he'd probably hit you," Adira muttered out to him, a small grin on her face as she imagined how the encounter would go
"I would totally beat his ass," Billy said with a chuckle as he pulled a cigarette out of his pocket and brought it to his lips, though he didn't light it
"I don't know about that," Adira defended her brother, though she was also sure that he was right. She loved her brother, and she knew that he was strong, but she also knew that he was pretty much bark but no bite. He didn't actually like to fight people, and on the rare occasion when a fight would break out, let's just say that it didn't generally go in his favour
"Oh come on, you know he wouldn't stand a chance," Billy laughed
"arent you gonna light it?" she asked him in confusion as she looked at the cigarette between his lips that was still unlit. She expected him to pull out a lighter and light it, but he shook his head
"Didnt you hear princess? Smoking is bad," Billy told her with a raised eyebrow as he shrugged his shoulders and twisted the cigarette between his lips a few times
She furrowed her eyebrows at him and playfully shoved the boy in his side, "What the hell are you going on about, I see you smoking all the god damn time!" Adira exclaimed, her voice echoing through the cold air of the night
"I don't care about the smoke hurting me," he said with a small chuckled, but when he noticed the confused look on her face he rolled his eyes and let out a small sigh, "I'm worried about yours, I've been reading in the news papers that even if you don't smoke, if you hang around with people who smoke, then you can get cancer and all that shit," he muttered out to her
Adira fell silent, not really knowing what to say to the boy. It was just about the sweetest thing that anyone had ever said to her, and Billy Hargrove was just about the last person that she had expected to hear it from.
"You know, you arent the asshole that you like to show everyone that you are," Adira muttered out to him, causing him to roll his eyes down at her
"What are you talking about Harrington?" Billy asked her, the smile slipping from his face
"Well I just mean..." she looked up at him and saw that he was no longer amused about the conversation and didn't want to upset him so she just quickly shook her head, "actually, don't worry about it," she quickly muttered to him and shook her head
"no, now I wanna hear," Billy said, his voice slightly demanding as he looked down at the short girl that was walking next to him but she just shook her head. The two of them walked in silence for a few more moments before a strong gust of wind blew against them, "jesus christ, its freezing," the girl groaned out
"Well where is my jacket?" Billy asked, but his voice was deeper and distorted
"What? Im we-" she stopped as her arms suddenly felt bare, she looked down slowly and noticed she was just wearing jeans and a shirt and was no longer wearing Billy's denium jacket, "what the hell, I was just wearing i-"
"I thought you would have taken more care of my things," Billy growled, and now when she looked up at him he was covered in dark blood, his clothes were torn and blood spilled from his mouth and wounds, "first you let some little shit spill beer on there and then you leave it behind at home?"
"Bi- Billy," she choked out as she stumbled back away from him as she suddenly became aware... there was no way that was Billy, what the hell was happening. Billy is dead, she watched him die, he died in her arms almost a year ago
"You moved on pretty quickly huh? A new boy already, its only been almost a year. You gonna replace me with him now huh? You gonna start wearing his jackets now?" Billy growled as he stormed over to her, she knew it wasn't Billy- Billy wouldn't act like this towards her... but he looked exactly the same
"No, its not like that B, I swear," she exclaimed as she stared up at him, "He's a friend Billy, I swear," she cried out to him, she had tears pouring down her face, her eyes were red and her cheeks were puffy. Her lip quivered as she stared at the boy before her
"I bet your glad I'm dead huh?" Billy growled at her, "All I did was cause problems for you right? Fight your brother, get into fights at school, come over to your house so you can patch me up after my old man decides to give me a beating every fucking night," Billy stormed closer and closer to her, she kept on stepping back, but her legs weren't as long as his and we was quickly gaining on her
"You were never a problem Billy, I loved it when you would sneak into my bedroom so that I could patch you up even though it killed me to see you hurt like that. Sure you got into fights all the time, but I could never stay mad at you for long, you meant everything to me!" She exclaimed
"Meant?" He growled, "Who means the most to you now huh, this Eddie kid?" Billy began to grow bigger and bigger as he got closer and closer, and soon it was no longer Billy, instead it was a tall, grey, ugly looking man with rubbery skin (though I'm sure many of us can agree, that he was not ugly before hand...)
Just as the man was about to grab onto her she shot up quickly and sat up right. She was no longer walking the streets of Hawkins but instead was sitting up right in the bed of Maxine Mayfield, in the middle of her room, with a sweaty Maxine sitting up right next to her, the same look of horror on her face that Adira was sure to be displayed on her own.
They both looked terrified, and it was clear what had happened, the two of them had just had a nightmare, and it was clear that neither of them felt like talking about it either as they looked at each other sadly before Adira wrapped her arms around Max.
Max suddenly broke down crying and buried her head into Adira's chest as her body shook from the sobs erupting through her body. Adira had to hold her own tears in and be strong for Max as she ran her fingers through the girls hair and hushed her softly as she rubbed the red-haired girls back softly, "I know," she muttered out to the girl in attempt to comfort her, "its okay, its all going to be okay," though she wasn't sure if she was trying to convince herself or Max.
And my... how wrong she truly was.
