The three girls were now all down in the basement archives, looking through articles on Victor Creel and anything else that might have something to do with the murders.
They had been down their for about an hour now and they still hadn't found anything that they thought could help them.
Adira had the walkie-talkie in her hand, she was ok high alert, if Max needed her, she was going to make sure she was ready to go and help her. She was internally cursing herself for leaving Max with the boys and going off with Robin and Nancy even though she knew Max could handle her own weight and Steve would look after her too.
Nancy was on her own archive box (sorry I have no idea what they are called) while Robin and Adira were squished on a chair looking at the one opposite to Nancys. They were both squeezed on the small chair and Adira was practically sitting in Robins seat as Robin pressed the lever on the side of the machine that changed through the slides
"Anything juicy over there?" Robin spoke up, trying to spark conversation with Nancy. She felt bad that she had caused a fight between Adira and Nancy, so Robin decided to try and become friends with Nancy so that Adira wouldn't have to choose or fight with them.
"Nothing new," Nancy said and even though Adira couldn't see her, she was imagining what Nancy was doing and she suddenly had a clear image of Nancy in her mind, looking down at her lap in annoyance before looking back at her lap newspaper which read '3 dead as police probe grisly scene' Adira just brushed it off quickly, thinking that it was one Robin and her must have looked at earlier and that she had a very strong imagination
Which was true, she'd always been good at imaging things that other people were doing or guessing what they were looking out, she joked that it was her super power
"Yep, same here," Robin agreed as she kept scrolling through the different articles, "Victor seemed like a normal guy, dead family, missing eyes, sent to Penthurst. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah," Robin muttered out before leaning over in her chair to look over at Nancy, "what are we looking for exactly?" Nancy ignored her so Adira looked over too and tapped on the side lightly to catch her attention
"Nance?" Adira called out to her and Nancy finally leaned over to look at the two girls who were peering over in her direction, "have you found anything? What exactly are we looking for?"
"Any mention of dark Wizards or alternate dimensions? Things in that lane?" Robin asked, she just wanted to help but all the info that they were reading was the same and none of it was particularly standing out.
All three of them were on the verge of giving up, but Adira definitely wasn't going to say something, she didn't want Nancy to think that she thought it was all just a waste of time. Adira didn't think it was a waste of time, she had learnt a lot of things that may come in handy in the future. But there was just something about Victor Creel's son that seemed to stick out to her, she just had a suspicious and sickening feeling in her stomach whenever she read over his name.
"I don't know okay? It is starting to seem like all of this was just a giant waste of time. And you are obviously bored Robin, so why don't you just call Steve. I'm sure he will come and pick you up, and I mean I'm not really in danger here so," Nancy snapped as she stood up, gave them a small glare and then she stormed out of the room.
"Are we gonna go and... check on her," Robin muttered out to Adira who let out a small sigh and nodded her head. They both stood up and followed after Nancy
"You do know that Steve and I totally aren't a thing right, and despite Adira's hopes and dreams... me and Steve, yeah, that's not gonna happen," Robin explained to Nancy, she gave Adira a small look before quickly looking away, "I like somebody else."
"What?" Nancy asked Robin, acting oblivious even though it was competent and entirely obvious that, that was why she was acting this way, "I didn't say that you and Steve are a thing."
Robin walked over to Nancy, "so I figured that you and Jonathan are still together and still going strong because you guys are going to college together and you're like one of those unstoppable power couples," Robin ranted, waving her arms around slightly as she voiced her thoughts, "but I... I just, I wanted to make sure that you knew Steve and I are just friends. Like platonic with a Capitol P," Robin explained
Nancy just raised her eyebrows in uninterest before nodding her head and looking away from Robin. Robin let's out an exaggerated and long sigh before walking away from Nancy but she only takes a few steps before turning back around.
"Man, I could use some popcorn right about now," Adira muttered under her breath as she stood on the stairs, watching the two girls in interest. They were both her best friends and she just wanted them to get along, and she was sure that eventually they would get along
"You know, just in case that if adding any tension between us," Robin said to Nancy, "and honestly I really want to get along with you, especially for Adiras sake, which might I add, I am not trying to steal Adira from you but she's my best friend too."
Nancy practically chucked whatever was in her hand back onto the table and turned to face Robin with a sarcastic smile, "it wasn't. And I don't care that you and Adira are best friends," Nancy lied
"Holy shit. The Weekly Watcher. I can't believe they have this," Robin says in shock as she looks down at some of the boxes with newspaper rolls inside them, in front of her. Adira quickly makes her way over to Robin with an excited look on her face
"No shit, that's so cool," Adira muttered as she stood next to Robin and looked down at the boxes in interest. Robin grinned over at Adira before picking up the tape from 1959.
"Don't they talk about like, Bigfoot and stuff?" Nancy asked, stating that the newspaper held no relevance to them, "and like UFOs?"
"First of all, UFOs are absolutely real. Bigfoot, I am still on the fence about," Robin said as she picked up one of the boxes
"I don't know, I mean have you seen my brother?" Adira asked with a snicker grabbing another one of the boxes. Robin laughed while Nancy couldn't help but chuckle, looking over at Adira in amusement, "also Robin has a good point I mean, may I remind you that we are looking for information on dark wizards?"
Nancy began to think about it, and she knew that the two girls had a point, but she want going to say that
"If someone is going to write about that stuff, it is going to be these weirdo's" Robin says and hands a box over to Nancy who hesitantly took the box from her
They made their way back over to the machines before placing the roll in and then skimming through all of the papers, looking for anything that might be relevant to what they were looking for.
The first one to show up on the machine made Adira chuckle and Robin smirk, but Nancy on the other hand did not seem amused
"Ah, Elvis cloned by aliens," Nancy says in feign interest, clearly not agreeing with the paper
"Seems legit huh?" Adira asked sarcastically, giggling softly.
"You never know," Robin agrees. Nancy clearly didn't pick up on the fact that she was joking as she rolled her eyes and walked away, beginning to pace the room, thinking that all of this was just a large waste of their time.
Robin and Adira keep looking at the papers, scrolling through them until one of them finally stands out, "perfect," Adira muttered out
"Victor Creel claims vengeful demon kills his family," Robin reads out loud in a funny voice, "the murder that shocked the whole community," Robin says and begins to skim over the paper
"Hah hah, very funny," Nancy replied, not realising that the girls had actually found a paper with that title
"We're not kidding, get over here," Robin says to Nancy
