-How does it feel to be dead, man?

-It's not much different from being alive. You don't have to eat and you can choose when to think. You can turn your head off when you want and put your thoughts in a box, one of those corrugated cardboard boxes, and by the time you're done you're so satisfied, you can't want anything but a silver rainbow.

-Is there anything you miss?

-Well, aside from the obvious, I miss guitars. Good guitars. You can't get good guitars around here. Jimmy Hendrix always complains about that.

-At what point did the penny drop on the promised side?

-It was when my first son was born. Before that my life was like jumping on a trampoline on the moon. You know what I mean? We were always on top and we couldn't realize when we started to come down because we were already at the top again. I guess a son changes things.

-In what way?

-It balances the imbalance. It's like taking the blindfold off the lady justice so she realizes that the scales in her hand were always in a straight line.
